Join the team redefining how the world experiences design
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
While we support flexible ways of working, for this role we’re focusing on those that can be based in Berlin in a hybrid capacity, so we can keep collaboration flowing with the local team. We have an amazing office hub in the heart of Berlin Mitte at Mindspace Münzstraße.
This will put you at the heart of one of Canva's most exciting European markets and closer to the ground across France, Germany and Spain. You'll work closely with colleagues across EMEA and the wider global comms team.
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract working full-time hours with the opportunity to extend.
About the team
The companies that define categories are the ones that clearly show the world what the future could look like, and bring others along with them. Our Global Communications function exists to shape how we're understood globally, across customers, employees, investors, regulators, and the media.
Our team partners across the business to translate what we're building into clear, compelling narratives that build momentum, strengthen our reputation, and accelerate our growth. Operating across more than a dozen countries, we ensure Canva is represented with clarity, consistency, and impact on a global stage.
What you’ll be doing
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Leading communications across France, Germany and Spain: You'll own the strategy for three of Canva's biggest European markets. You'll set the direction and priorities, and keep a constant drumbeat of product, tech, corporate, and consumer news.
- Building and managing strong media relationships: You’ll build relationships with reporters across these markets, ensuring Canva remains top of mind and shows up in everyday conversation.
- Managing local agency partners: You’ll manage agencies in respective markets, setting the direction, reviewing work, and guiding them to deliver exceptional results that drive awareness, trust, and growth for Canva.
- Building and supporting a bench of local spokespeople: You'll build strong thought leadership platforms for Canva leaders across Europe, and you’ll manage briefing and preparing them ahead of media interviews and events.
- Partnering cross-functionally: You'll work closely with local sales leaders, growth managers, and partnership teams to ensure communications activity supports our broader business goals.
- Connecting global and local narratives: You'll serve as the crucial link between Canva's global and local communications teams, ensuring our story is consistent, culturally relevant, and maintains momentum across these markets, year-round.
You're probably a match if you have
- Proven communications experience across European markets, ideally France, Germany and Spain, with a track record of securing top-tier coverage and managing local agency partners.
- Strong Media relations skills, with an established network of journalist contacts and the confidence to build relationships with senior reporters, editors, and industry influencers.
- Experience developing and executing integrated communications strategies that span product, corporate, executive, and consumer storytelling.
- Strong B2B and AI communications experience, with the ability to translate complex narratives into compelling, locally relevant stories.
- The ability to operate across multiple markets simultaneously, balancing competing priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Pace, ownership and autonomy: you're comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and don't wait for direction to move.
- Excellent English communication skills and fluency in French, German or Spanish to best engage your markets.
