The Role
Lead end-to-end management of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe and national cybersecurity projects: plan, coordinate work packages, manage grant and financial reporting, liaise with consortium partners and Project Officers, ensure compliance (GDPR, grant rules), mitigate risks, organize meetings and audits, and support proposal and dissemination activities as needed.
Summary Generated by Built In

Sphynx is an active participant in European and nationally co-funded cybersecurity research and innovation initiatives, spanning projects such as security awareness training, cyber assurance and insurance marketplaces, and next-generation device/asset intelligence platforms. As our project portfolio grows, we are looking for an experienced EU & National Funded Projects Manager to lead the full lifecycle of our Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme, and nationally funded projects — from proposal support through execution, reporting, and closure.

This role sits at the intersection of project management, EU funding compliance, and technical coordination. You will work closely with technical leads, researchers, and consortium partners across Europe, as well as directly with Project Officers and funding bodies, to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in full compliance with grant obligations.

Responsibilities

Project Lifecycle Management

  • Own end-to-end management of assigned EC and nationally funded projects — planning, execution, monitoring, and closure
  • Coordinate work packages, track deliverables and milestones, and maintain project plans (Gantt charts, KPI dashboards)
  • Act as the primary point of contact for consortium partners on administrative and coordination matters

Grant & Financial Administration

  • Manage grant agreements and consortium agreements, ensuring compliance with EC/national funding rules (e.g. Horizon Europe Model Grant Agreement provisions)
  • Track budgets, personnel costs, timesheets, and cost eligibility across work packages and partners
  • Prepare and submit periodic technical and financial reports via the EC Funding & Tenders Portal or the relevant national platform

Consortium & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Organize and lead consortium meetings, general assemblies, and review meetings
  • Liaise with Project Officers, external reviewers, and auditors during reviews and audits
  • Interface between technical/engineering teams and funding bodies, translating technical progress into reporting requirements and vice versa

Risk, Compliance & Quality

  • Identify project risks and deviations early, and drive mitigation and corrective action plans
  • Ensure compliance with EU funding regulations, GDPR, and IP/dissemination/exploitation obligations
  • Maintain project documentation, quality assurance processes, and internal audit readiness

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience managing EU-funded projects (Horizon Europe, H2020, Digital Europe Programme, or equivalent national schemes)
  • Working knowledge of the EC Funding & Tenders Portal, grant agreement provisions, and EU financial reporting requirements
  • Proven experience coordinating multi-partner, international consortia
  • Solid grounding in project management methodologies and tools (PMI, PRINCE2, Agile, MS Project, Jira/Confluence, or similar)
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Greek is a strong plus
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in parallel
  • Comfortable working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for consortium and review meetings
Nice to have

Business Development Support

  • Support proposal writing and budgeting for new funding opportunities (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe Programme, national R&D schemes)
  • Contribute to partner identification and consortium building for future calls
  • Coordinate dissemination and communication activities (deliverables, publications, project website/social content)
  • Prior experience with cybersecurity, cyber resilience, or ICT-focused EU calls
  • Familiarity with the NIS2 Directive, Cyber Resilience Act, or broader EU cybersecurity regulatory landscape
  • Experience with proposal writing/budgeting for Horizon Europe or Digital Europe calls
  • PM certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)

Benefits
  • Competitive remuneration based on skills, experience and motivation
  • Full time role
  • Opportunities to grow within a fast-moving organization developing cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies
  • An open and collaborative environment

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, or related discipline
