Job Description
Applied Materials is seeking an experienced compliance, audit, or risk professional to join its Global Ethics & Compliance team. This role will play a key part in strengthening the Company's control environment through compliance risk assessments, third-party risk management, continuous monitoring, auditing, and M&A due diligence activities.
The successful candidate will help evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls, identify emerging risks, perform testing and monitoring activities, and partner with stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies. In addition, this individual will help advance the team's use of data analytics, AI-enabled workflows, and automation to improve compliance effectiveness, risk detection, and operational efficiency.
This role will also have opportunities to support awareness campaigns and other employee-facing initiatives designed to reinforce Applied’s culture of integrity, such as live trainings, presentations, and “Coffee with Compliance” events.
The ideal candidate combines a background in anti-bribery and anti-corruption (ABAC) compliance, fraud detection and prevention, or employee misconduct with an interest in leveraging technology, AI, automation, and analytics to modernize compliance processes and develop meaningful metrics and monitoring capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support ethics and compliance audits, controls testing, and monitoring activities to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls and risk mitigation measures.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and maintain compliance risk registers, including tracking remediation activities and monitoring emerging compliance risks.
- Support and enhance Applied's third-party risk management program through risk-based due diligence, red flag remediation and follow-up, monitoring, testing, and periodic assessments of third-party relationships.
- Provide compliance support and oversight for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, including conducting compliance due diligence and integration reviews.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics, and continuous monitoring capabilities that provide actionable insights into compliance risks, trends, and program effectiveness.
- Leverage AI, automation, and data analytics tools to improve compliance workflows, strengthen monitoring activities, and increase operational efficiency.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, potential control weaknesses, and indicators of non-compliant behavior.
- Partner with Internal Audit, Legal, Sales, Accounting, HR, and business stakeholders to evaluate control effectiveness and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Support investigations, compliance reviews, and special projects designed to strengthen the Company's compliance program and control environment.
- Help establish and maintain compliance procedures, governance practices, and monitoring frameworks consistent with industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in ethics and compliance, internal audit, risk management, compliance monitoring, third-party risk management, investigations, forensic accounting, or a related assurance function.
- Experience conducting compliance audits, controls testing, monitoring activities, compliance risk assessments, or similar risk-based reviews in a global organization.
- Knowledge of third-party risk management, compliance monitoring, auditing, or related risk-based compliance programs.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or global initiative and comfort partnering across Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, HR, and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leveraging data analytics to support audit, compliance, risk, or operational decision-making.
- Experience or familiarity with anti-bribery and anti-corruption (ABAC) compliance, fraud detection and prevention, employee misconduct investigations.
- Strong judgment, integrity, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Proficiency with Excel and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Smartsheet, SQL, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated interest in AI, workflow automation, and technology-enabled process improvement. Experience using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, AI-enabled analytics solutions, or process automation platforms is a plus.
- Ability to distill complex data and findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
- Experience in conducting live compliance-related trainings with strong communication skills.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA).
- Knowledge or fluency in Chinese, Korean or Japanese a plus.
- Master's degree or other advanced degree.

YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
