SKOn, a proud member of SK Group, the second largest conglomerate with a revenue size $150 billion, is one of the fastest-growing battery manufacturers globally. With ambitious plans to reach over 180GWh manufacturing capacity in the US, SKOn is at the forefront of innovation in the energy storage sector. In response to the increasing domestic demand, SKOn is set to manufacture state-of-the-art 5.3MWh DC Blocks, fully compliant with the latest US domestic content requirements and eligible for full ITC benefits. Additionally, SKOn has contracted and awarded projects totaling 7GWh to be installed in the US starting in 2026.

We are seeking a results-oriented and strategic Sr. Sales Manager to drive the growth of our utility-scale energy storage solutions. In this customer-facing role, Sr. Sales Manager will be responsible for originating, developing, and closing complex, large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the renewable energy market, is adept at managing long sales cycles, and can effectively coordinate with cross-functional internal teams to ensure project success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Pipeline Management
    • Design and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals for utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
    • Oversee and actively manage a dynamic pipeline of sales opportunities -including short-, medium-, and long-term prospects - with utilities, independent power producers, and renewable energy developers through prioritization and account feasibility analysis by evaluating IX status, financial status, permitting status, etc.
    • Proactively source, engage, and qualify new clients and project leads by continuously expanding the customer base and identifying emerging business opportunities.
  • Client Relationships and Market Expansion
    • Establish and maintain robust, long-term relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to foster trust and drive repeat business.
    • Proactively represent SKOn at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance the company's visibility and expand its presence with the energy storage sector.
    • Continuously monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and regulatory developments to deliver strategic insights and support effective market penetration initiatives.
  • Proposal and Contract Management
    • Develop and deliver detailed, high-quality project proposals tailored to the needs of utilities, developers, and independent power producers - including comprehensive responses to complex Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Oversee and lead the negotiation and management of sophisticated contracts, such as Energy Storage Procurement Contracts (including Master Supply Agreements), Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA), and system integration agreements, ensuring successful execution and closure.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or business and economics or a related field. MBA is a plus
  • Experience: At least 3 years in a technical sales or account management, business development role within the BESS industry, focusing on utility-scale projects. A minimum of 5 years in sales or commercial role.
  • Technical Skills: Have strong knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including cells, batteries, and DC Block. Good understanding about BESS systems, such as a Power Conversion Systems, medium voltage transformers, substations, and Gen-Tie connections. Strong knowledge in power electronics and EMS, SCADA systems. Also familiar with requirements and compliance processes for major markets like ISO-NE, NYPA, ERCOT, and CAISO, which helps ensure smooth project delivery across different regions.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM tools such as salesforce, oracle, Monday.com or equivalent.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage multiple accounts and relationship simultaneously.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, business, economics, or related field
  • MBA
  • Minimum 5 years in sales or commercial roles
  • At least 3 years in technical sales, account management, or business development within the BESS industry focused on utility-scale projects
  • Strong knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (cells, batteries, DC Block) and BESS system components
  • Familiarity with Power Conversion Systems, medium voltage transformers, substations, and Gen-Tie connections
  • Knowledge of power electronics, EMS, and SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with market/regulatory requirements for ISO-NE, NYPA, ERCOT, and CAISO
