Director - LTSA & Service Operations
SKOn, a proud member of SK Group, is one of the fastest-growing battery manufacturers globally. With ambitious plans to reach over 180GWh manufacturing capacity in the US, SK On is at the forefront of innovation in the energy storage sector. In response to the increasing domestic demand, SK On is set to manufacture state-of-the-art 5.3MWh DC Blocks, fully compliant with the latest US domestic content requirements and eligible for full ITC Benefits. Additionally, SK On has contracted and awarded projects totaling 7GWh to be installed in the US starting in 2026.
We are looking for a seasoned Director of LTSA & Service Operations to lead our post-commissioning service strategy. You will be the primary architect of our Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) and the guardian of our Warranty obligations. This role requires a rare blend of contractual expertise (performance guarantees) and operational discipline (field service management). Your mission is to ensure SK meets its grid-scale commitments while building a world-class, process-driven service organization.
Key Responsibilites:
Contractual Strategy & Performance Guarantees
Drafting & Negotiation: Partner with the Legal and Contracts teams to draft and refine high-stakes performance guarantee language, specifically focusing on Energy Capacity (Degradation), Round-Trip Efficiency (RTE), and System Availability.
LTSA Management: Oversee the lifecycle of Long-Term Service Agreements, ensuring that service levels are met and that the company is protected from uncapped liabilities.
Risk Mitigation: Analyze complex contractual terms to identify potential "cliff" risks in capacity guarantees and develop mitigation strategies with the engineering team
Field Operations & Technical Leadership
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-disciplinary team of internal and external field technicians.
Service Kick-Off (SKO): Establish and lead the SKO process for new projects to ensure a seamless handoff from the construction/commissioning phase to the long-term service phase.
Dispatch & Utilization: Optimize technician deployment strategies to meet strict Availability timelines and minimize Liquidated Damages (LDs)
Disciplined Problem Solving & Quality
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Implement and enforce a disciplined approach to field issues using industry-standard methodologies such a 8D, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 5-Whys.
Continuous Improvement: Feed field data back to the R&D and Manufacturing teams to improve cell and module design, specifically targeting recurring failure modules.
Reporting: Develop and maintain executive dashboards tracking fleet health, warranty spend, and adherence to performance guarantees.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years in a senior service or operations role within the BESS, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation sectors.
Contractual Fluency: Proven track record of managing and drafting LTSAs for multi-hundred-million-dollar energy assets
Methodology: Deep expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and formal problem-solving frameworks (Six Sigma Black Belt or similar is a plus).
Leadership: Experience managing remote teams of technicians and third-party O&M providers in high-pressure environments
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Law, or Business. Master's degree or JD preferred.
