Financial Planning & Analysis provides strategic partnership and objective guidance to business units. This function leads cross-functional efforts to deliver forward-looking, actionable insights focused on driving strategic value and supporting key business decisions.

The Senior Specialist, Cost Accounting supports the Senior Finance Supervisor in initiatives aimed at reducing manufacturing variances and optimizing costs. This position performs analyses to identify and eliminate raw material usage variances and coordinates and oversees cycle-count audits across the plant’s different warehouses.

Accountabilities

  • Prepares efficiency reports as requested by local plant management.
  • Prepares scrap, Material Usage Variance (MUV), and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) reports.
  • Prepares sales reports for ELP.
  • Reviews manufacturing work orders daily and prepares the corresponding reports to accurately reflect variances.
  • Conducts cycle-count audits and maintains the corresponding statistics and records.
  • Supports the Finance department during the monthly financial close.
  • Performs account reconciliations and resolves reconciling items.
  • Maintains reasonable inventory balances based on the cost of each product.
  • Coordinates the planning and execution of the annual physical inventory in partnership with the Senior Finance Supervisor.
  • Supports the implementation of new products manufactured at Cardinal Health Dominican Republic.
  • Communicates actual departmental expenses against budget to support better planning and cost control.
  • Prepares journal entries during the monthly close.
  • Analyzes and explains expense account variances against budget.
  • Continuously reviews materials reported as scrap and prepares reports and action plans to strengthen process controls.
  • Supports management by analyzing cost-variance trends to facilitate decision-making.
  • Complies with applicable quality requirements and the organization’s Quality Policy.
  • Completes all required quality training within the established deadlines.
  • Supports the achievement of Cardinal Health Dominican Republic’s annual quality objectives.
  • Complies with applicable local and federal Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
  • Follows established EHS policies and procedures and encourages colleagues to do the same.
  • Participates in employee-engagement activities, including EHS inspections and meetings.
  • Reports EHS incidents and hazards, supports root-cause analyses, and assists with implementing corrective actions and improvements.
  • Completes all required EHS training.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Stops work when contractors or employees perform activities that could result in serious injury or environmental incidents.
  • Refuses to perform any activity that may endanger personal or employee health and safety or compromise the building or facilities.
  • Does not perform operations or activities without the appropriate training or when personal safety may be at risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Cost Accounting Analyst within a manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate English proficiency.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting, statistics, labor analysis, and physical inventory procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience with AS/400, PRMS, SAP, or similar financial and accounting systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Knowledge of internal procedures and controls.
  • Experience with inventory planning and process improvement.
  • Strong time-management, organization, planning, and control skills.
