Job description

We're growing our Risk squad and looking for a high-impact Credit Risk Expert in Latin America — if you or someone you know thrives at the intersection of credit, data, technology, and fintech, keep reading.

Senior Credit Risk & Portfolio Strategy Manager

A hands-on, strategic role for someone who can understand a credit portfolio, identify what is changing and why, and turn data into actionable credit strategies and scalable tools.

  • You'll own portfolio risk monitoring, analyzing delinquency, bad rates, vintages, through-the-door performance, concentrations, exposure, utilization, and other key risk indicators
  • You'll identify emerging risks and opportunities, perform root-cause analysis, and translate findings into concrete portfolio actions
  • You'll design, implement, and measure credit strategies across the customer lifecycle, including credit line increases and decreases, exposure management, blocks/unblocks, inactivity rules, segmentation, policy cutoffs, and early-warning strategies
  • You'll monitor and challenge credit models and decision strategies, analyzing performance, backtesting, calibration, segmentation, drift, and the effectiveness of model-driven decisions
  • You'll use SQL and Python to independently analyze large datasets, build monitoring and decision-making tools, automate recurring analyses, and move from raw data to actionable strategies
  • You'll use AI and automation to build smarter and more scalable Risk processes and tools. We're looking for someone who enjoys experimenting, coding, and finding better ways to solve problems
  • You'll monitor portfolio risk appetite, concentrations, covenants, and management indicators, translating complex portfolio dynamics into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • You'll work cross-functionally with Data, Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Collections to take initiatives from analysis through implementation
  • We're looking for a true builder mindset: someone analytical and technically strong who doesn't stop at reporting a problem, but wants to understand it, design a solution, build it, and measure whether it worked
  • 5+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Credit Strategy, Portfolio Management, or related analytical roles. Experience in fintech, B2B lending, credit cards, payments, or multi-country portfolios is a strong plus
  • Strong SQL + Python skills and fluency in English required. Spanish and/or Portuguese are highly valued

Where we work

This is a hybrid role: you'll split your time between the office, customers and home. We don't set a minimum number of office days for most roles — you'll spend time in the office naturally, and most days during your ramp-up or when your leader asks.

Why Clara
  • A high talent-density team driven to make an impact in Latin America — low ego, high ownership.
  • Competitive salary and stock options (ESOP) from day one.
  • An annual learning budget and accelerated development paths.
  • English is our working language, with Spanish and Portuguese every day.
How we work
  • Clarity — Open and direct communication: we say what we mean and give context where it matters.
  • Simplicity — If it can be simpler, it should be.
  • Ownership — We own everything we do, end to end. When something needs to happen, we don't wait.
  • Pride — We hold ourselves to a high standard, and it shows in what we deliver.
  • ABC (Always Be Changing) — We adapt fast, embrace change, and keep learning.
  • Inclusivity — Diverse ideas, stories and perspectives build a better Clara.

If you meet the must-haves, apply — the nice-to-haves are a bonus, not a requirement.

Skills Required

  • Academic background in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Hands-on portfolio-level credit risk experience, including PD, LGD, EAD, ECL, vintage analysis, and roll rates
  • Daily SQL and Python or R programming experience
  • Experience designing credit line management strategies, including CLI/CLD campaigns, limit reviews, and exposure control
  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Experience in Latin American credit markets
  • English fluency
  • Experience in fintech or high-growth environments
  • Exposure to credit card and payments ecosystems
  • Familiarity with Latin American regulatory frameworks for provisioning
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools, workflow automation such as n8n, AI agents, or chatbots applied to risk processes
  • Experience supporting financial audits
