SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The ESP Reliability & Optimization Engineer is responsible for enhancing the reliability, performance, and lifecycle of Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) systems through advanced monitoring, diagnostics, failure analysis, and optimization strategies. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, improving run life, and driving continuous improvement across ESP operations.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Drive value by applying ESP reliability and optimization processes, tools, and best practices, supporting asset teams in maximizing system performance and uptime.
• Analyze ESP operating parameters and system behavior to identify risks, optimize operating envelopes, and ensure systems operate within design limits.
• Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on ESP system failures and develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, production, and field service) to understand ongoing operations and ensure alignment with reliability objectives.
• Proactively identify, diagnose, and communicate reliability risks and optimization opportunities to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Lead or support regular optimization and reliability review meetings with clients and internal teams.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve ESP run life, reduce failure frequency, and enhance system performance.
• Monitor performance trends and leverage data analytics to recommend reliability improvements and operational adjustments.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardizing best practices, improving processes, and enhancing overall customer value.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring on ESP reliability practices and optimization techniques.

Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in ESP system optimization, troubleshooting, and reliability engineering preferred.
• Experience with failure analysis, reliability modeling, or condition monitoring is highly desirable.
• Experience in shale oil operations preferred but not required.
• Ability to work a rotational schedule (e.g., 7 days on / 7 days off), including day and night shifts.
• Strong understanding of production challenges within the shale oil industry.
• Knowledge of ESP system design, operating environments, and customer requirements.
• Self-motivated with the ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience or ability to learn ESP monitoring and analytics platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit for extended periods (2–4+ hours), including in office or vehicle environments.
• Ability to access all areas of a pump shop, warehouse, or wellsite as required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and complete assignments despite frequent interruptions.
• Ability to respond to visual and auditory cues.
• Ability to operate a one-ton pickup truck.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is primarily performed in an office setting located within an operational facility but may also include remote work, customer locations, wellsites, and travel to other operational areas as needed. The role may require extended hours depending on operational demands.
