Equity Research Associate
The candidate will support a Senior Analyst covering Clean Energy at Mizuho Securities, located in midtown NYC. The role involves gathering and analyzing industry information, dissecting earnings releases, writing research, and financial modeling across Solar, Battery Storage, Natural Gas OEMs, Nuclear, and EPC. Coverage spans policy‑driven, technology‑driven, and asset‑heavy business models, offering exposure to multiple valuation frameworks.
Candidate should be able to effectively communicate investment ideas and industry information to internal sales teams and external investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Writing research reports, including company initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps
- Building dynamic industry models consisting of integrated Income Statement/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow Statements
- Sourcing alternative data sets and simplifying and summarizing relevant industry and company information for inclusion in research reports
- Conducting proprietary research evaluating the competitive landscape, and analyzing industry/company news
- Creating and maintaining relationships with industry contacts
- Helping senior analyst prepare for marketing events and conferences
Qualifications
- Highly motivated professional with a thirst for knowledge and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills using Excel
- Demonstrated ability to write investment‑oriented research with clear conclusions and supporting analysis
- Effective oral communication skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to function independently while maintaining a collegial and collaborative approach to working with other team members
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience. Prior, direct experience on the sell side or buyside equity research is a plus, and/or Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses is a plus
- Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and capabilities
The expected base salary ranges from $110,000-150,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
