The Role

Looking for a best-in-class opportunity to obtain hands-on experience with fundamental analysis and the investment research process? The Equity Research Associate internship program gives interns the chance to obtain and develop the core research skills needed to jumpstart a successful and lucrative career in investment management. The program is led by our director of research, and each intern will be paired with a peer in the research department who will mentor them throughout the summer.

Throughout the 10-week program, interns will support real investment decisions by:

  • Conducting autonomous research on three stocks across different sub-sectors.

  • Building financial models, completing financial analysis, and conducting proprietary research.

  • Communicating with corporate management teams, industry experts, and Wall Street analysts, to develop investment recommendations for our funds.

  • Collaborating with fellow interns and utilizing the vast network of Fidelity managing directors of research, analysts and portfolio managers.

  • Pitching stock recommendations to internal portfolio managers.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

We are seeking candidates who have the following characteristics:

  • Class of 2028 Bachelor’s degree candidates

  • Proven academic success with a preferred GPA of 3.2 or higher

  • Conversational Japanese preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive, seeks additional responsibilities and learning opportunities

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Demonstrated expertise using Excel

  • Highly motivated independent problem solvers, ability to think outside of the box and bring a unique perspective

The Team

Fidelity’s Equity division is responsible for managing diversified and industry-specific funds for millions of investors. The division consists of portfolio managers, research analysts, research associates, sector specialists, and traders who work together to deliver exceptional investment outcomes. Over the years, its capabilities have grown substantially, with investment strategies designed across style, capitalization, sector, and geography.

The Equity team relies on its proprietary research, disciplined portfolio management, and sophisticated trading process to evaluate, construct, and manage investment portfolios and deliver superior long-term results.

Fidelity’s Asset Management Internship Program

As a participant in Fidelity’s Asset Management internship program, you will gain hands-on training, receive mentorship from investment professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects and key deliverables. High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time opportunity upon graduation in our Tokyo office.
