The role requires strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to translate complex financial, industry, and macroeconomic developments into clear and differentiated investment insights.
Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with company management teams, industry participants, and other relevant market contacts to deepen the team’s research perspective.

  • Participate in company meetings, investor events, industry conferences, analyst days, and other research-related events.

  • Partner closely with colleagues across Research, Sales, Trading, and other areas of Citi to deliver timely and differentiated insights to clients.

  • Identify and incorporate new data sources, analytical techniques, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled research tools, to enhance research quality and efficiency.

  • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert within the Banks sector and contribute to the continued development of Citi’s research franchise.

  • Provide informal leadership within the team, including mentoring and supporting junior colleagues and contributing to their professional development.

  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating sound judgment and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Citi policies.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 6–10 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within equity research, investment banking, asset management, financial services, or another closely related investment research function.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, valuation methodologies, and fundamental investment analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate investment theses through high-quality written research and verbal presentations.

  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex financial institutions and identify key earnings and valuation drivers.

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and the macroeconomic, regulatory, and competitive factors affecting the banking sector.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear and compelling investment narratives.

  • Ability to engage confidently with institutional investors, company management teams, and senior internal stakeholders.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of research deliverables and investment views.

  • Securities licenses as required by the role, or ability to obtain applicable licenses.
