The Role: 

Clear Street UK is in growth mode and looking to attract top talent to work alongside a small team to build the Equity Finance business. The candidate should possess a start-up mentality alongside a deep level of expertise and experience in either the stock-lending or financing markets. They will be required to act in an SME capacity to drive forward respective areas of growth and be capable of creating new relationships, negotiating new contracts and credit lines, as well as executing on them when open. The candidate will need to be a self-starter who can operate with limited guidance in driving the development of the equity finance trading ecosystem.  They will need to be an expert in their field and should ideally have a minimum of five years trading experience, possess deep market connectivity and a strong understanding of the synthetic and cash prime brokerage client offerings.  


The Team: 

Clear Street’s mission is to become a single-source platform that serves a variety of investor types across multiple asset classes on a global scale. The Clear Street U.K. team is bringing Clear Street’s established equities, options, and prime brokerage business to a new market.


Responsibilities: 

The responsibilities of this role are as follows:

  • Work with the desk head to build the equity financing platform/ cross-asset client financing ecosystem
  • Help build the process flow, front to back for and supporting documentation
  • Trade a matched book on specials/ financing trades
  • Establish and maintain deep market relationships across agent lenders, banks, broker dealers and vendors
  • Manage trading risk/ P&L
  • Manage balance sheet and associated financial resources, closely


Skills required: 

  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in equity finance across multiple asset classes; stock loan / securities lending experience
  • FCA certified (currently or within the last nine months)/Material Risk Taker certified
  • Liability side hedging of the trading book
  • Inter-bank TRS trading
  • Cross-asset repo funding
  • Trading with agent lenders in a short-side liquidity or a non-cash upgrade scenario
  • FX Swap and Forward trading
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of partnering closely with Treasury, Treasury Policy and Middle Office/ Operations teams
  • Familiarity working with market vendors (Wematch, Equilend, Pirum, S&P Markit, Trading Apps, Triparty Agents etc)
  • Strong understanding of financial resource concepts and daily resource management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and closely following geo-political/ market events
