About the Role
The EPIC Project Manager is responsible for driving and delivering sales support assets like, but not limited to, concept cars, according to defined technical scope, cost and timing. The project manager will be leading the global project teams through the execution of a number of projects in accordance with the defined project model. The EPIC Project Manager is responsible for the project from planning/scoping and kickoff till project end, where the sales support asset is delivered in high quality and according to the predefined scope and a lesson learned session is performed to ensure continuous improvement of the EPIC project execution process. During the project execution, the EPIC Project Manager keeps all stakeholders up to date on project progress, next steps, and critical path issues. The EPIC Project Manager will participate in planning, organizing, and executing product demo sessions for example for tech days or at dedicated customer sales presentations and ensure customer presentation feedback is being conveyed back to the project team that created the specific experience asset.
What You Will Do
- Ensure project deliveries according to defined content scope, quality, timing, and budgets.
- Setting and executing global cross-functional projects according to defined project model.
- Execute and manage multiple projects simultaneously including close stakeholder involvement, global project team lead, and regular status reporting.
- Participate in sales pitches and customer presentations.
- Take part in continuous improvements of project execution methods and processes, from first stage to finalized project.
- Be part of building a world-class EPIC global concept creation project management team.
What You Need
- Proven track record within the use of project management methodologies and experience from working in the fuzzy innovative front-end of product definition and creation of early demonstrators.
- Technical background and documented hands-on experience from international R&D projects with the ability to understand and convey technical and commercial sales pitch messages, verbally as well as in writing, to customers and stakeholders.
- Financial stolidity, to stay within defined project budgets and to secure strong business cases.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Being quality oriented with a holistic approach that always puts the product quality and the Harman business case and customer in focus.
- Ability to work with internal and external partners, vendors, team members, and stakeholders and to understand how to act towards and work closely together with OEM customers.
- Ability to lead and motivate dedicated global project teams involving cross-functional team members and several global stakeholders.
- Ability to understand and request the need for team profiles/competencies to deliver defined deliverables.
What is Nice to Have
- Ability to meet and treat partners and customers in different kinds of situations from first dialogue to final sales pitch presentations.
- Ability to handle changes in scope and minimize resulting impact on the project (time, resources, costs, etc).
- Based on a defined scope, know how to secure deliverables, through the ability to:
- understand and break down project scope and set specific goals and targets for the team;
- work with a team consisting of members from different cultures and functions;
- secure integrated product development to create holistic winning product concepts;
- define work packages;
- do and communicate detailed aligned activity planning;
- ensure effective tracking/follow up;
- do clear communication and reporting;
- perform a risk assessment and define counteractions to eliminate identified risks and to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and in high quality;
- get involved in defining, or redefining scope, secure timely solutions and escalate as needed
What Makes You Eligible
- Willingness to travel 20% domestic and international.
- This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
