PRINCIPAL FOCUS OF THE POSITION


UCC Environmental is a progressive well-run company, with excellent customer relationships and Utility-specific technology solutions. The Company has developed a business strategy encompassing market growth through a variety of channels, including organic domestic growth, technology and business acquisitions, strategic partnering and expanded international sales coverage. The Company has strong sales channels in North America, and currently possesses emerging sales channels in Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (AP).


The focus of the position will be to leverage market experience in terms of technical expertise and market knowledge to assist the UCC Environmental Sales and Marketing Management Teams in their pursuit of projects in this sector.


Primary responsibilities within the Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) and Architectural Engineering (AE) Partners Market will include:

  • Market Intelligence – Provide background on the vertical market’s major companies operating in North America along with their engineering partners, construction partners and technical suppliers.  This includes keeping up to date on major projects, regulatory or market forces and any other industry news. 
  • Networking and Commercial Contacts – Provide access to a wide network of professionals, engineers, companies, and their partners.  This includes securing invites to visit and present UCC’s qualifications to key stakeholders in this sector. 

The Vertical Market Leader must combine specific technical knowledge with a network of contacts in the industry.  The individual is expected to assist the Sales and Marketing team in developing long term relationships with partners and customers in the industry as well as assisting and advising on proposals. 


The Vertical Market Leader will:

  • Demonstrate UCC Environmental core values.
  • Provide technical guidance on operations in various market applications.
  • Provide technical review of market related UCC deliverables such as proposals. 
  • Keep up to date on news, major projects, regulatory issues, etc.
  • Set up meetings with key stakeholders in which UCC Environmental can present their qualifications. 
  • Support the North American sales & marketing strategy and programs to strengthen the UCC Environmental brand and increase potential market penetration.
  • Provide input into business plans and collaborate with UCC Environmental personnel to define and drive action that maximizes Customer satisfaction and UCC Environmental profitability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


The Vertical Market Leader reports to internal sales management at UCC Environmental.  At present, the position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, though this can change over time. 


This position is approved for remote working.  Travel to UCC Environmental (Waukegan, IL) and Customer sites is expected.


THE INDIVIDUAL

Education:

A Bachelor of Science in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or environmental) is required, and a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. 

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 15 years of project engineering experience in engineering/technology based industrial environments
  • At least 10 years of experience specifically in the Market Vertical. 
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment challenges within the Market Vertical
  • Extensive network of contacts in the Market Vertical

Characteristics:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Must be willing to travel >40% of the time, in proportion to proposal volume and Customer Relationship Management activities

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to sit or stand working at a computer 80% of the time
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • Ability to walk around operating facility or construction site for an extended time

Compensation and Benefits:

Base Pay Range:  $160,000 to $200,000 annual pay based on skills and experience
