Job Description
This position leads CPNA’s Environmental, Sustainability, and Greenhouse Gasses (GHG) programs to ensure compliance and progress towards applicable regulations/standards/initiatives/goals. The Environmental & Sustainability Manager role encompasses leading CPNA’s ESG initiatives; around customer education, government carbon legislation awareness and education, and sustainability programs, coordinating efforts to support the global BlueScope sustainability practices and initiatives. This position also supports the VP HSE through continual improvement of sites environmental programs, policies, and procedures around land, air, water, waste, noise, and energy.
The Environmental & Sustainability Manager is responsible for the coordination of Environmental planning, training, data management, and recordkeeping. The role is also responsible for accurate and timely reporting of environmental performance to regulatory, internal, and other required stakeholders as well as for supporting CPNA’s decarbonization roadmap to the 2030 target, in concert with Manufacturing and Engineering, supporting CPNA’s increased focus on ESG, sustainability, and GHG reduction. This role supports these initiatives across all 8 CPNA locations in AK, CA, OR, and WA and the incumbent will be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
Primary duties & responsibilities:-
- Procure and maintain all environmental permits and authorizations required for facility operations. Coordinate environment compliance activities within manufacturing team to reduce environmental impact and liabilities.
- Manage external Environmental compliance reporting. Maintain all Environmental internal and regulatory reporting responsibilities, including data collection and submittal of timely and accurate reports.
- Facilitate roll-out of Waste reduction programs at CPNA. Identify internal Land, Air, Water, Waste, Noise, and Energy programs and implement them in concert with Manufacturing. Assist operations management with sustainability and waste reduction strategies.
- Facilitate CPNA’s roadmap to GHG reduction through advising, sponsoring, and coordinating the CPNA GHG Reduction roadmap to meet GHJG reduction targets.
- Conduct Environmental Incident Investigation / Reporting / Learning and corrective action implementation.
- Develop, implement and maintain effective employee Environmental training programs.
- Conduct Environmental Risk Control Auditing (Monitoring Against Standards / Expectations).
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or equivalent.
- 10 years of experience as an Environmental professional, preferably in heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience in building effective Environmental program(s).
- Experience in preparing and delivering senior level presentations.
- Experience working across multi-site; preferably Multi-State operations.
Preferred:
- 2 years of managerial/supervisory experience of Environmental Specialists or consultants.
- CHMM, CSP, and CIH certifications.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- 24 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Preferred operating in AK, CA, OR, and/or WA.
- Experience in global organizations.

Pay Range: $117,486- $176,229 annually.
