Essential Functions:
- Assure compliance with client site Environmental and Waste Management operations, such as:
- Manage solid waste received
- Recycle materials such as glass, paper, plastic, and metals
- Monitor liquid waste transfers.
- Apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental problems, including waste treatment and site remediation, under the direction of engineering staff or scientists.
- May assist in the development of environmental remediation devices.
- Ensure compliance of client’s Environmental and Waste Management procedure requirements
- Ensure compliance and collect required data of site requirements
- Ensure compliance and support with Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Program (SPCC)
- Ensure compliance with waste management programs such as Hazardous Waste, Non-Hazardous Waste, General Trash, Biohazard and Recycling
- Performs physically demanding operations and waste management work
- Transfer of liquid wastes of drums to tanks
- Receive and segregate all waste of different areas and ensure comply with the Regulatory Agencies
- Segregate the recycling materials
- Compaction and crushing of glass and plastic drums
- Operates hand truck, forklift, digger, pick-up truck and truck for waste management department functions
- Wash and rinse containers
- Prepare labels and repacking of waste or recycling material, if necessary
- Operates and services the components of liquid waste transfer and collection systems
- Maintains and monitors control systems used for plant waste transfers processes
- Collects liquid waste and sludge samples to perform routine analyses; include material characterization, to transport for outside agency analysis
- Coordinate with traffic department all shipments and movement of trailers
- Escort suppliers to different pick-up areas, including recycling and biological waste companies
- Transfers of waste tanks to tank trailers- connecting sleeves and ground, turn on pump
- Maintain tracking of biohazard, hazardous and non-hazardous manifest data and chain of custody to ensure compliance with local and federal agencies
- Enters and maintains environmental data log on computer system, and submits to technical staff for analysis or incorporates into technical reports
- Prepare all the waste shipments data and documentation of different suppliers
- Conducts regular inspections to ensure the systems are operating at the desired level of quality: o Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Satellite Station Inspection, Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste Room Inspection, Waste Storage Tank Inspection, Tanks and Dikes Inspection
- Perform a hydrostatic test to transfer sleeves
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks related to the dikes
- Submit a work request for major repairs to the software used at the client site (SAP, MAXIMO, etc.)
- Performs minor troubleshooting tasks using standard equipment, hand and power tools
- Advises Group Leader and Supervisor/Managers of the nature of violations and other needed improvements.
- Maintains clean and good housekeeping practices in waste and recycling areas
- Ensure that hazardous waste generated by work projects is managed in accordance with the client’s procedures and regulations
- Ensure that each employee involved in hazardous waste management receives proper training
- Ensure that each employee involved in hazardous waste management performs his or her duties in compliance with proper hazardous waste handling and management procedures.
- Designate an operator to be responsible for the waste collection areas
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor/management, and/or client.
- AD, Engineering or Science.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or related fields preferred.
