Chewy is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team for the summer of 2024. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in environmental health and safety to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced e-commerce environment.

Internship Timeframe: June 3rd – August 9th 2024 (must be available for full duration)

What You’ll Do

• Assist the EHS team in conducting risk assessments and implementing controls to mitigate hazards in the workplace.
• Participate in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization.
• Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training programs to educate employees on safety practices and procedures.
• Support environmental initiatives, such as waste reduction, recycling, and energy conservation efforts.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to track key performance indicators and measure the effectiveness of EHS programs.
• Receive hands-on experience in a leading e-commerce company with exposure to a wide range of EHS activities.
• Receive Mentorship from experienced professionals in the field of environmental health and safety.
• Have networking opportunities with professionals across different departments within Chewy.

What You’ll Need

• Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Prior internship or work experience in environmental health and safety is a plus.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental management systems (ISO 14001) is desirable.
