ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Environmental Compliance Assistant will assist the Environmental Manager to ensure that the site remains compliant in regard to it legal and moral obligations for Environmental Management. This role is instrumental in ensuring all documentation, records and systems are organised and in good order to satisfy audits and third party review.
Key tasks of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring that water discharge levels from the plant are in line with legislation - performing calibration of equipment and tests as required
  • Management of waste transfer documentation to ensure traceability of waste from site
  • Completion of internal site audits (as detailed in site audit schedule) and appropriate documentation of these
  • Recording renewable energy information in a presentable format for review at Site Leadership Team level
  • Assisting in external audits to ensure that documentation review is smooth and seamless
  • Completion of stock checks of chemical use within Treatment Plant and verification of use of chemicals
  • Being the central contact for orders and invoices relating to Environmental usage in line with budgetary spend
  • Laboratory stock levels and quarterly testing, including LGC and NRM/ALS
  • Health and Safety Representative for WWTP and site, reporting issues through BOS, felts, and hazard observations
  • Updating monthly pillar meetings with all health and safety data
  • Checking the inventory of first aid kits
  • Updating and maintaining COSHH risk assessments, MSDS, and approvals
  • Updating lab risk assessments, SOPs, and FEMON documents
  • Weekly and daily plant figures, plant operations, and KPI sheets
  • Coupa super user and WNS
  • Conducting weekly tests on lone workers and maintaining document checks and supplier contacts for issues related to WWTP, Agriculture, Boiler house, and IT
  • Organizing new starters' overalls, lockers, and fobs, while maintaining records and keeping ELIS updated with staff departures
  • End-of-year waste reporting
  • Managing chemical stocks and coordinating with suppliers for waste treatment plants
  • Conducting site waste checks and arranging exchanges of skips
  • Performing waste journey audits and internal audits
  • Scheduling team members' training and working with the training department

Staff Shop:
  • Booking in pallets with order capture, updating and maintain shop price lists monthly
  • Processing staff sale product and ensuring issue of stock is accurately recorded

Weighbridge:
  • Cover the basics of weighbridge operation in case of emergency

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR...
We are looking for a self motivated individual, and ideally you will have experience of:
  • Working within an administrative role
  • Working within a Water Treatment Facility
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements in relation to waste transfer and water treatment.
  • Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel
  • Being customer focused and balancing multiple stakeholders

WHAT HOURS WILL I WORK?
The shift pattern is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
WHERE YOU'LL WORK?
You'll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. If you've spotted our three wind turbines, then you'll know where we are! With about 350 employees on site, we're one of our largest plants across the GB business. Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries.
