Environment Specialist 

Location: Victory House, Brighton 

Full time, 37.5 hours per week  

Permanent Contract  

Salary: £48,000-£60,000 dependant on experience  

Hybrid working options available

This is a fantastic opening which will allow the post holder to work with multiple technologies alongside many training and development opportunities. There will be a wide range of technical accountabilities  and activities performed by the job holder within Environment Management and Release management. 

 

How you’ll help us make health happen: 

 

  • Coordinates the deployment of applications changes to the different environments ensuring the consistency and availability of the environments to support product development, testing and deployment. 

  • Responsible for defining and implementing the continuous integration pipeline through all environments starting from Development through to Production. 

  • Liaise with all internal stakeholders (such as the infrastructure team) to ensure the availability of all necessary environments with the required application landscape to facilitate the project scope of work. 

  • Provide expert technical advice to the business on Environmental issues.  

  • Take part in implementation activities, change control and release planning. 

  • Take a lead role in the implementation of automated release management capabilities. 

  • Work with multiple diverse stakeholders including 3rd party vendors. 

  • Engage with the various project managers and Test Lead to coordinate planned outage and environment refreshes. 

  • Utilise your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and quickly absorb new concepts and information. 

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. 

  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures/documentation for deployments and troubleshooting. 

  • Report on Environment activities using agreed metrics. 

  • Ensure Disaster Recovery tests for critical systems are scheduled and reported in accordance with Enterprise standard Policy. 

 

 

 

 

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: 

  • Demonstrable experience in effective configuration, release and environment management for multi-tier technology estates 

  • Experience with technical deployments of database (Oracle) and application deployments predominantly on Windows infrastructure (IIS, .Net) 

  • Good technical knowledge/usage of Azure platform 

  • Knowledge of deploying solutions to cloud-based providers such as Microsoft Azure DevOps. 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) 

  • Able to Install and configure .Net Applications and Web Applications on Windows Servers 

  • Use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to manage databases, permissions backups and running SQL scripts. 

  • Experience supporting web applications and related technologies. 

  • Proven track record of continuous improvement in a multi-disciplined IT environment 

 

Experience using the following tools: 

  • Windows Server 

  • Windows Azure 

  • Azure Devops 

  • Oracle 

  • IIS and Webservices 

  • SQL server Management Studio 

  • Virtualisation Software 

  • Powershell
