Entry Level Designer

When you join Design Group as an Entry Level Designer, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
What You’ll Do
You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
- Work on-site and remotely with teams of architects and civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to design technical solutions to meet our clients’ business needs
- Work under the direction of lead licensed structural engineers towards becoming a licensed structural engineer
- Learn to create and assemble a complete set of structural design documents
- Become trained in seismic force resisting systems in high seismic design categories, gravity and lateral load path calculations, and analysis of structural systems used in manufacturing, distribution, and other industrial and commercial facilities
- Develop specifications and assist with field conditional assessments
- Assist in the design of structural systems for new and existing industrial facility applications
- Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and analysis software
- Keep abreast of all state and national changes in codes and industry standards
- Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of one year as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in industrial structural design and engineering, or two years of relevant structural engineering co-op/internship experience
- Experience with 3D structure analysis software (RISA 3D, SAFE)
- Knowledge of heavy equipment support structure and foundation design
- Knowledge of seismic force resisting systems in high seismic design categories
- Knowledge of gravity and lateral system strengthening for all construction materials
- Experience in the structural design of facilities for the food/beverage, pharma/life science, or consumer products manufacturing and distribution industries
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to successfully interact with our team members and clients
- Solid computer software skills including AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
- Proficiency in Revit (preferred)
- A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions
- A bachelor of science in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- A master of science in structural engineering (preferred)
- An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
