Role SummaryThe Entrepreneurship Development Manager will be instrumental in nurturing and expanding the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the country market. This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to drive both operational excellence and strategic vision as a core member of a City Team. The Manager will report directly to the City General Manager for day-to-day operational leadership and program implementation, while also maintaining a strategic reporting line to the Entrepreneurship Director to ensure alignment with our global entrepreneurial efforts, in particular with our flagship ALX Ventures program. In this capacity, the Manager will integrate practices and perspectives from both city-specific and global contexts to advance our collective mission.
Specific Responsibilities- Design and execute ALX Nigeria’s entrepreneurship strategy, building a strong pipeline of founders and scalable ventures.
- Lead the delivery of Founder Academy, Incubator, and Accelerator programmes, ensuring high-quality founder outcomes.
- Drive revenue and funding through partnerships, sponsored programmes, and externally funded entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Position ALX as a partner of choice for corporates, governments, and development organisations seeking to design and run entrepreneurship programmes.
- Build and manage relationships with investors, corporates, and ecosystem stakeholders to unlock opportunities for founders.
- Create pathways for founders to access funding, markets, and growth opportunities
- Design and execute high-impact ecosystem events, including pitch competitions, demo days, and founder showcases.
- Track programme performance, venture outcomes, and revenue contribution, using data to continuously improve strategy and execution.
- Collaborate with Growth, Community, and Partnerships teams to align entrepreneurship initiatives with broader organisational goals.
- 5–7 years of experience in entrepreneurship development, venture building, programme management, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of startup ecosystems and founder journeys.
- Proven and documented experience in partnerships, business development, and programme funding.
- Experience in designing and managing entrepreneurship or accelerator programmes.
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to structure revenue-generating opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in:
- Google Slides / PowerPoint
- Google Sheets / Excel
- Google Docs
- AI Tools
- BI tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Experience as a founder, startup operator, or venture advisor.
- Experience in venture capital, fundraising, or investment ecosystems.
- Experience working with government or donor-funded programmes.
- Experience in corporate innovation or startup–corporate collaboration.
