Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases across production, test, development, and disaster recovery environments.

  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks, blocking issues, and resource constraints.

  • Design, implement, and maintain database backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions to ensure business continuity and system availability.

  • Perform database installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration changes in accordance with organizational standards and change management processes.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures and regularly test backup and recovery processes.

  • Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Implement and maintain database security, including user access management, role-based permissions, encryption, and auditing controls.

  • Monitor database health, storage utilization, and system capacity, and recommend infrastructure improvements as needed.

  • Collaborate with application, integration, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise applications and interfaces.

  • Support enterprise applications by ensuring database reliability, availability, and performance.

  • Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot database-related incidents and participate in root cause analysis and problem management activities.

  • Create and maintain database documentation, standards, procedures, and architecture diagrams.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and security standards related to data management and protection.

  • Participate in on-call support and provide after-hours support for critical database issues, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field required.

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Microsoft SQL Server or database administration certifications preferred, such as:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

  • Microsoft SQL Server certification or equivalent database-related credential

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases in a production enterprise environment.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server database administration, performance tuning, indexing, backup and recovery, security, and high availability.

  • Experience supporting production, test, development, and disaster recovery database environments.

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, log shipping, and other business continuity technologies preferred.

  • Experience with database monitoring, troubleshooting, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning.

  • Ability to write, review, and troubleshoot T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and database jobs.

  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, storage, networking, and virtualization concepts as they relate to database systems.

  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure SQL or Azure database services, preferred.

  • Knowledge of data security practices, role-based access controls, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, analytics, and integration teams.

  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and support critical systems in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical incidents, maintenance, upgrades, and deployments.

  • Working knowledge of MySQL Database Administration.

Skills Required
