POSITION TITLE: Enterprise Development Expert

POSITION TYPE: Part Time (6 months)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Winrock is seeking a qualified International candidate to serve as Enterprise Development Expert for an anticipated ADB-funded project in Nepal to assist Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in implementation of Gender Action Plan of the project and to strengthen institutionalization of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) to its operations and to support women and the excluded group to productively use energy with safety and efficiency. The Enterprise Development Expert will be responsible in designing and conducting surveys, needs assessment and market assessment. It will be a part time position of 6 months in total. This position is contingent on receipt of donor funding.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Expert will supervise and provide guidance during baseline survey to see the livelihood measures and income of the current and potential entrepreneurs, capacity analysis and needs assessments for livelihood enhancement training and skill development training. The Expert will review selection criteria and selection of the trainees as per the criteria for livelihood enhancement training and skill development training and provide orientation to the selected trainees and their family members. The Expert will guide team members develop training materials, case stories and other material and provide trainings to existing or new energy-based entrepreneurs in Province 2. The Expert will review market analysis, capacity analysis and needs assessments for skill development training and find relevant courses for technical and vocational education and training and support the trainees to register the courses and receive the training. The Expert will guide conduct a market analysis and check available employment opportunities, SME finance available for enterprises and provide post-training supports. The Expert will guide facilitate discussions with relevant agencies as needed for the activities and help finalize knowledge products and any other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

The Expert will have master’s degree in business or a relevant social science discipline.

Work Experience:

At least 10 years of experience in social development work, preferably in energy programs and projects. S/he will have knowledge to develop standards and systems for implementing energy-based livelihood approaches and vocational skills development working with rural communities. S/he shall have work ability in networking and linking with the stakeholders at field and central level. S/he will have experience in designing and conducting surveys, needs assessment, market assessment.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Financial management skills and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of international donor contracts, financial and accounting regulations and procedures, particularly ADB contract regulations.
  • Ability to build coalitions and networks that can provide synergies and sustainable solutions for the project.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Microsoft).
