As the Enterprise Architect, you will drive the organization’s technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals while adhering to standards and best practices. They design scalable, secure solutions, reduce technical debt, and guide teams in implementing innovative architectures. Acting as a strategic advisor and mentor, the Enterprise Architect fosters alignment across teams, shapes the technology roadmap, and ensures long-term business success.
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for modern web, mobile, and middleware technology architecture driving the company towards future-state and constantly evolving architecture. The role will be 50% enterprise architecture and 50% project work. You will assist the Director, Enterprise Architecture in documentation, defining standards & principles and implementing the Enterprise Architecture mandate as defined related to applications, APIs, and processes as well as assist all web Solutions Architects within the company.
A Day in the Life
- Architectural Leadership: Lead efforts to ensure architectural decisions align with business and technology strategies while adhering to architecture standards, roadmaps, and blueprints.
- Architecture Development: Develop and maintain architecture standards, technology domain strategies, roadmaps, and blueprints for designated focus areas.
- Strategic Vision: Define and communicate architecture North Stars for business, application, information, and technology domains. Recommend future enterprise-level IT strategies and roadmaps.
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security standards, and emerging industry best practices through collaboration with the Cyber Security team and active participation in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs).
- Architecture Review and Assessment: Lead or participate in architecture reviews and assessments as a Reviewing Architect or Subject Matter Expert.
- Enterprise Alignment: Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to provide guidance on solution development, application portfolio rationalization, and technology debt identification.
- Future State Visioning: Maintain a comprehensive view of current and target-state architecture (1-5 years) to support strategic decision-making.
- Architecture Building Blocks: Develop reusable Architecture Building Blocks to facilitate Enterprise Architecture implementation.
- Principles and Standards: Define and enforce architecture principles, standards, and best practices, and maintain a centralized architecture repository.
- Community Engagement: Provide mentoring, guidance, and metrics to support the growth and alignment of the enterprise architecture community.
- Collaboration and Facilitation: Actively engage with domain teams, working groups, and IT portfolios to align efforts and enhance architectural consistency.
- Application Health: Facilitate application health assessments, identify technical debt, and propose strategies for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of Enterprise architecture experience. Prior experience in software development, solution architecture with increasing responsibilities
- Proficiency in architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) and cloud architecture.
- Knowledge of integration technologies, APIs, and middleware.
- Experience with modern development practices (DevOps, CI/CD, microservices).
- Familiarity with database design, data modeling, and data integration tools.
- Expertise in enterprise systems like ERP, CRM, and mainframe technologies.
- Proficiency in security frameworks and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, NIST).
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Proficiency in architecture modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, Sparx EA).
- Technical knowledge in legacy systems migration and modernization.
- Ability to create and communicate roadmaps, blueprints, and strategic plans.
- Strong skills in enterprise architecture governance and standards creation.
- Expertise in managing technical debt and application portfolio rationalization.
- Experience in IT financial management and cost-benefit analysis.
- Advanced analytical skills to evaluate technology and business alignment.
- Ability to assess risks and identify mitigation strategies.
- Expertise in identifying technology gaps and designing scalable solutions.
The hiring base salary range for this position is $111,100 - $152,800 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
