Summary of Role

Apex Fund Services is a rapidly expanding global Fund Services Company with almost 12,000 staff members based in 45 locations worldwide. The Cloud Architect will report to the Head of Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture under the Infrastructure Engineering function. As a Cloud Architect at Apex Group, you will be instrumental in shaping the cloud architecture landscape within our dynamic multi-cloud environment. You’ll be critical in developing, designing, and leading cloud solutions that align with Apex Group's strategic objectives.

The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for helping the Head of EA define and implement Apex's overarching enterprise architecture across the vision and framework across the Apex group. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, product management, and development teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and technical solutions while adhering to SAFe principles. As required, you will support the Architectural heads of Funds, Financial Solutions and Group Technology Services.

The ideal candidate for this position will comprehensively understand our internal environment and the broader external market landscape. This includes staying alongside current and emerging trends in Information Technology and focusing on developments within the financial sector. Familiarity with the sector's regulatory framework and awareness of potential security threats and risks are essential. Additionally, the candidate will gain knowledge of Apex's Target Operating Environment and reference architectures, playing a key role in shaping their future direction in alignment with Apex Group's strategic goals.

Responsibilities include ensuring the quality of architectural deliverables by being well-versed in the associated processes and tools, notably TOGAF. The role involves guiding and supporting project teams to ensure developments adhere to the established Enterprise architecture standards.

Key duties and responsibilities

  •  Maintain architectural governance aligned with Architecture  principles and Evolve Apex’s Enterprise Architecture by collaborating closely with business and IT teams. Ensuring alignment to target architecture across multiple products and domains, directing the alignment of key strategic programs to overall business strategy.
  • Develop and communicate an architecture strategy that supports business objectives and digital transformation.
  • Ensure enterprise solutions align with architectural standards and architecture  principles.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance by sharing knowledge and the EA framework and principles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and communicate architectural decisions.
  • Identify and address technical risks, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
  • Works with the architecture team and relevant technology SMEs to ensure the creation of principles, patterns, and standards for implementation, create and maintain architecture documentation, and communicate concepts to all stakeholders.
  • Enhance architecture processes and tools within the SAFe framework.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and holistic solutions that meet organisational goals.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 5+  years experience in a similar technology leadership role with a complex application landscape
  • Experience with application integrations
  • Experience with complex application landscapes
  • Experience working on transition and transformation projects beneficial.
  • Experience in one or more modelling standards such as UML, Archimate.
  • Certification with an architecture framework such as TOGAF, Zachmann, or another distinct advantage.
  • Relevant certifications such as SAFe are desirable.
  • Excellent verbal written and communication skills in English with the ability to present clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to take ownership of an Enterprise architecture solution and work with several stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Background in transition and transformation projects is desirable.
  • Experience in the Funds or Financial Industry is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
