English Editor

We are looking for an experienced Editor to join the ELT and Bilingual Department at Santillana / Sanoma. This position is offered on a temporary basis (interim contract of approximately nine months), covering a replacement, and represents an excellent opportunity to work on high-impact educational publishing projects within a leading international group.

The role is ideal for a proactive, flexible professional with strong editorial judgement, who enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to high-quality ELT and bilingual materials for the Spanish market.

Reporting to the Managing Editor and working closely with the Editorial Portfolio Manager and Team Lead, the Editor will be responsible for:

• Revising, editing and adapting (rewriting or creating texts and activities) materials submitted by authors, in line with editorial criteria and style guides, ensuring the highest quality standards and alignment with pedagogical and market objectives.

• Creating content according to the guidelines defined by the Editorial Portfolio Manager.

• Commissioning, selecting and supervising illustrations and other graphic elements, ensuring their quality and suitability for publication.

• Participating in the definition of model unit structures and in the development of demo materials.

• Revising, proofreading and approving the different sets of proofs.

• Editing and preparing audio scripts, as well as reviewing and approving recorded materials.

• Writing and preparing storyboards for the development of audiovisual materials included in the projects.

• Managing assigned project components in accordance with the established planning schedule, including task allocation to freelancers and follow-up to ensure timely delivery.

• Coordinating with internal departments such as Editorial Services and Digital Product Delivery to ensure the timely delivery and correct editing of all commissioned work, proactively flagging any potential delays.

• Participating in the creation, delivery and revision of digital content and digital products.

• Analysing competitor products to identify market needs, emerging trends and opportunities, ensuring that projects meet the highest quality standards and are fully aligned with market requirements.

• Visiting schools and participating in market research activities to strengthen market insight and better understand customer needs.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in textbook editing within ELT and/or CLIL.

• Native-level English speaker.

• Teaching experience in the bilingual education market.
