Job Description SummaryThe Engineering Transformation Leader (AI & Lean) is accountable for the strategy and implementation of an advanced Quality Management system, Lean engineering principles, and AI-driven design and workflow tools into our technical processes. Directly leading a medium sized team and indirectly leading the Heavy-Duty New Unit organization, you will drive sustainable improvements across all Heavy-Duty New Unit teams by championing cultural and process initiatives that modernize our design methodology, improve execution velocity, and ensure "right-first-time" quality in our engineering deliverables.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Quality System Leadership: Establish and enforce the "Zero Defect Framework" quality standards for design deliverables. Lead the development of KPIs and TTIs that track design accuracy, re-work rates, and engineering cycle time.

  • AI for Engineering Optimization: Lead the adoption of AI and automation tools that improve engineering productivity, support rule-based quality checks, automate repetitive technical tasks, enhance knowledge reuse, and reduce cycle time and rework across engineering workflows.

  • Lean Design Workflows: Apply Lean principles to the engineering lifecycle. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the design and execution workflows, reducing waste in documentation, review cycles, and inter-departmental handoffs.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive tangible improvements in cultural and process initiatives across all Heavy-Duty New Unit teams. Serve as the primary advocate for modern, data-driven design and execution workflows.

  • Team Development & People Leadership: Mentor your team, ensuring they are not only technically proficient but also growth oriented. Foster an environment where the team feels empowered to challenge legacy design processes.

  • Navigating Complexity: Lead the Heavy-Duty Plant Engineering team in transitioning from traditional design-heavy processes to more agile, AI-enhanced execution models, ensuring project milestones remain on track despite the ambiguity of digital transformation.

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree n a relevant discipline.

  • 8+ years of proven experience in engineering, lean, quality or similar fields

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage organizational change in a complex environment.

Desired:

  • Strong background in Quality Control/Assurance and hands-on experience deploying AI/Data Analytics tools.

  • Servant Leadership: Demonstrates a commitment to removing obstacles for the team, prioritizing their growth, and fostering an environment of trust.

  • Developer of Talent: Actively invests in the professional development of the team; excels at identifying individual strengths, coaching for performance, and building a pipeline of future technical leaders.

  • Champion of Continuous Improvement: Possesses an inherent dissatisfaction with the status quo, constantly seeking innovative ways to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Relies on robust data analysis to set strategy and solve problems, yet maintains the agility to make sound progress even in situations of high ambiguity.

  • Change Agent: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts (AI/Lean) clearly and persuade stakeholders at all levels to embrace new methodologies.
