Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Mechanical Drives team maintains deep domain expertise related to Locomotive wheels, axles, gears & gearcases, Off-Highway Vehicle transmission assemblies, bearings, seals, and lubricants. Here you’ll interact with various internal and external customers on a global team of engineers that work together to address real word challenges, create customer specific solutions, and develop innovative & reliable products.

 

How will you make a difference?

The Engineering Technical Leader will collaborate with a global cross functional team to lead concept development, detail design, and validation for both Locomotive applications as well as Off-Highway Vehicles used in the Mining Industry.

 

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Structural Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of years of experience in mechanical structures engineering

  • Preferred experience with mechanical structures and seals on mobile equipment in the rail and/or mining sectors

 

What will your typical day look like?

  • Mechanical structure ( gearcases, wheels, axles, shafts, gears, castings, bearings, housings) design, analysis, and validation

  • Leading detailed design reviews with internal and/or external stakeholders

  • Developing and preparing instructions for assembly methods and constraints

  • Monitoring and communicating project status, business issues, and significant developments

  • Fatigue evaluation and life predictions – parent material SN curves, weld evaluation, etc.

  • Support the Sourcing function in development and execution of strategic Sourcing initiatives including vendor qualifications and validation testing. 

  • Support factory for equipment builds, issue resolution, & build quality verification.

  • Provide root cause analysis interfacing with leadership and customer.

  • Execute service productivity projects, evaluating performance versus cost trade-offs.

 

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $79100-112800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
