The Engineering Tech supports the Engineering and Manufacturing teams by creating and maintaining accurate drawings, prints, manufacturing routings, bills of materials, control plans, and internal manufacturing print packages. This role assists engineers with CAD detailing and provides engineering support to manufacturing operations, helping ensure customer parts and manufacturing processes are accurately documented and ready for production. The Engineering Tech also contributes to continuous improvement and helps address engineering-related needs on the shop floor, making this role an important connection between engineering documentation and day-to-day manufacturing.

Duties & Responsibilities 

Engineering & CAD Support 

- Assist engineers with projects by detailing individual drawings utilizing CAD software. 

- Create and update prints, templates, and manufacturing documentation. 

- Maintain control plans and update extended descriptions as needed. 

Manufacturing Support 

- Develop manufacturing routings and bills of materials, including operation sequences and material requirements. 

- Create internal manufacturing print packages based on evaluation of customer parts and/or prints.

- Assist with engineering-related questions and continuous improvement activities. 

Shop Floor Support 

- Perform other engineering and special projects as assigned by the Team Facilitator/Leader.

- Assume regular shop floor duties as required. 

- Support manufacturing processes and communicate with team members as needed. 

Knowledge & Skills 

- Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and the ability to create and modify technical drawings. 

- Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

- Ability to understand manufacturing processes, routings, bills of materials, and engineering documentation. 

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. 

- Ability to communicate effectively with team members in one-on-one and small-group settings. 

- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

- Ability to use common fractions, decimals, and percentages and draw and interpret bar graphs. 

- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. 

- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

Requirements

Qualifications 

- High school diploma or equivalent. 

- 2 years of related experience or a college degree preferred. 

- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software. 

- Experience creating or modifying engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation. 

- Experience with manufacturing processes, routings, bills of materials, or control plans. 

- Previous engineering, manufacturing, or metal fabrication experience. 

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. 

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. 

- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and work in a team environment. 

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements. 

Skills Required

  • Two years of related experience or a college degree
  • Experience with computer-aided design software
