We are currently seeking an Engineering Team Leader for maternity cover replacement passionate about building and leading an efficient team in line with our awesome culture and delivering high quality products.
A Team Leader’s primary responsibilities are:
- To build a great team, delivering a great product or service
- To collaborate with other teams to build an effective organization considering technology, delivery, and product/service
- To align culture to Ocado Technology principles (Collaboration, Trust, Craftsmanship, Learn Fast and Autonomy)
- Additionally, Team Leaders work with their development centre leadership to build a great place to work (contributing to processes like recruitment, branding, induction etc.)
Our team focuses on the successful delivery of next-generation bot software. We are a team that does what needs to be done, by identifying gaps in our current bot systems and working with talented engineers across our business to prototype and deliver quality products. We are working on products, all contributing to the improvement of our automated warehouses and recoveries of bots.
What our team does:
- Participate in all phases of development including concept, design, development, and live maintenance
- Develop Linux applications, embedded software for an IIoT edge device within Ocado Bot
- Developing cloud solutions for supporting our bot health and recovery mission
- Collaborate within your team, department and beyond within the company to provide best quality digital solutions
- Demonstrate agile skills and mindset, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Use a data-driven approach and experimentation to find and develop the best solutions

Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience (may also be informal) in leading a team of software engineers and applying principles of continuous improvement
- Understanding of and experience using Agile methodologies
- Desire to learn and improve
Nice to have
- Strong expertise in Java and/or C
- Experience with web systems/frameworks
- Experience with embedded systems
- Experience with distributed, scalable and highly available systems
- Experience with Java-based web frameworks
- Experience with Ci/CD and product lifecycle
