Description of Work

This position supports Division 6 / Lumberton Resident Engineer’s Office and will serve as Lead Project Inspector. Duties include performing mathematical functions, reading plans, applying engineering standards, and providing leadership and training to others. The position will also be responsible for supervising and directing staff, coordinating with the Contractor to maintain an effective working relationship, and ensuring that NCDOT standards and policies are properly maintained and enforced.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range:  NC14 - $52,592 - $92,036Management prefers applicants with the following:
  • Experience with mathematical functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Knowledge in engineering standards, policies and procedures related to transportation.
  • Experience in performing engineering analysis and preparing technical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors.
  • Experience in directing, assisting, or training of sub-ordinate employees

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
