The Engineering Prototype Project Manager (Eng PM) is a critical member of Creation's Customer Engineered Solutions Team and subject matter expert (SME) in equipment and methods of rapid prototyping of circuit card assembly (CCA) and/or box assembly. The Eng PM is a key member of the rapid prototype team including quoting, programming, work instruction development, and manufacturing execution. The Eng PM will work in collaboration to analyze and resolve a variety of technical issues related to quality and manufacturing. This position directly reports to the Director of Quality & Engineering (or designee).As a member of technical staff, the breadth of technical experience, expertise, and way of working will be an asset to regional and/or companywide initiatives and special projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to mentor other team members, plan and execute complex projects and lead in analyzing and resolving the most difficult problems. The Eng PM will serve as the primary liaison between the customer’s technical team and Creation’s cross-functional team. A successful candidate will also have some level of project management experience, ensuring scope and schedule is understood and maintained to support internal and external requirements.
DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
- Take a leading role in development of assembly quoting for rapid porotype builds
- Lead meetings with internal stakeholders and external customers
- Provide work order promise/commit dates for rapid prototype builds to internal and external customers
- Develop work instructions and machine programs
- Manage change process for equipment programs, tools, recipes etc.
- Involved in strategy decisions and quoting of new equipment and tools. Contribute to strategy development,develop specifications, manage vendor relationships perform capability studies for process equipment.
- Works on continuous improvement of processes to improve quality and cycle time by focusing on:
- Defect data analysis – improving first pass yields / DPMO
- Analysis of downtime causes – improving efficiency/changeover time/etc.
- Assembly tools and fixtures
- Automation of processes & equipment
- Support root cause analysis activities with collaboration with other functional teams chemistries, and other assembly chemicals.
- Define and qualify new chemicals by assessing safety, correct usage, and disposal
- Provide support/coaching to Maintenance Technicians, Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic manufacturing.
- Process expert in 1 or more of SMT, Wave Soldering, Mechanical Assembly, Conformal Coating, Potting, Re-work
- Experience of process control methodologies (SPC, Cp, CpK)
- Deep experience with Mechanical CAD and/or Gerber software such as AutoCAD and CAM350
- In-depth knowledge of IPC standards (610 and J-STDs)
- This position provides access to technology regulated by U.S. export controls. Therefore, any job offer will be contingent upon the applicant's ability to comply with these export control regulations.
- US Citizen or lawful permanent resident or a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Extended knowledge of industry accepted manufacturing, quality, and technical standards (IPC, JIT, Lean, ergonomics etc.)
- ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 experience preferred. AS9100 and /or medical device manufacturing experience is an asset.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical documents including the schematics and prints.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
- Organized and self-motivated with a strong ability to multi-task
- Strong learning mindset
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands
- As expected within a typical office type environment however may on occasion spend an extended amount of time standing or walking in a production environment
- The incumbent must possess enough strength to maneuver around equipment/materials up to 25lbs without injury to themselves or others
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). With corrected vision is acceptable.
- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
Mental Demands
- Emotionally capable of professionally handling high-pressure situations in a fast paced, highly demanding industry
Working Conditions
- Equal mix of office and production environment.
- You will be required to wear safety clothing and gear when working in safety sensitive environments
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $100,000-$120,000 per year. Full-time employees are also eligible for performance based bonuses and benefits. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, location, and shift. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and hours worked.
