About the role.
The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of critical capital engineering projects across McCain's European Snacking network. Reporting to the Director, Global Snacking Engineering, this role supports plant operations, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement through the delivery of complex engineering projects from concept and design through installation and commissioning. The successful candidate will leverage modern technologies and engineering best practices to drive project success while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, budget, and timelines.
What you'll be doing.
  • Lead the development and execution of capital engineering projects across McCain's European Snacking facilities.
  • Oversee the design, review, and implementation of equipment and systems in accordance with corporate engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, safety, and finance stakeholders to define project scope and business requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement new process technologies to improve operational efficiency, product quality, and safety performance.
  • Develop capital project justifications and prepare Requests for Expenditure Authorization (REAs).
  • Manage contractor and supplier selection processes, including tender documentation, bid evaluation, and negotiations in partnership with Procurement.
  • Coordinate design inputs and technical documentation between project teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Conduct supplier and site visits to ensure equipment designs align with plant requirements and operational needs.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Resolve technical issues, support commissioning activities, and provide technical expertise to manufacturing facilities across the network.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

What you'll need to be successful.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or a related discipline).
  • Master's degree, MBA, and/or PMP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of project management experience within food manufacturing, food processing, or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience within snack food, appetizers, or similar food processing operations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, budgets, timelines, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of process documentation, including process flow diagrams, block diagrams, project schedules, and cost tracking.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and standard project management tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40-50% across Europe.

About the team.
The Engineering Project Manager is part of the Global Engineering, Snacking team and reports directly to the Director, Global Snacking Engineering. The team is responsible for developing and delivering strategic engineering and capital projects that support the growth and modernization of McCain's snacking manufacturing network. This role works closely with engineering specialists, manufacturing sites, operations teams, procurement, finance, and external suppliers across Europe.
