Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Scope Definition

  • Identify and prioritize the set of components requiring drawing revalidation based on risk, criticality, and usage frequency.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with engineering and operations leadership.
  • Develop a detailed project plan including timelines, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.

2. Drawing Audit & Validation

  • Lead the systematic review of existing technical drawings to assess compliance with current design standards, tolerances, and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate with design engineers and manufacturing experts to validate drawing accuracy and feasibility for production.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation of all drawing changes and approvals.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Facilitate collaboration between design, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment on drawing updates.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulatory bodies.

4. Risk & Change Management

  • Identify potential risks related to outdated or inaccurate drawings and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and ensure proper documentation and communication of changes.
  • Ensure all drawing updates are integrated into the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

5. Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure all revalidated drawings comply with applicable rail industry standards (e.g., EN, ISO, UNIFE RISL).
  • Support audits and regulatory reviews by maintaining accurate records and traceability.

6. Reporting & Communication

  • Provide regular updates to senior engineering and project stakeholders on progress, risks, and key decisions.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, including KPIs such as number of drawings reviewed, validated, and released.

7. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline the drawing validation process through automation, templates, or standardization.
  • Capture lessons learned and integrate them into future engineering documentation practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering project management, preferably in the rail or transportation sector.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawing standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change control processes.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
