Bengaluru, KAAbout The Role:We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Content Operations domain, focused on rights management and digital asset management. You will manage a team of around six engineers and help them design, build, and operate services that are critical to how Condé Nast manages and distributes content.
This role is well suited for a technically strong manager who enjoys staying close to the work when it matters, can adapt to changing priorities, and is comfortable owning projects end to end, from early ideation through delivery and long-term operation. While this is not a day-to-day coding role, you should be comfortable diving into systems, designs, and code to unblock teams and guide technical decisions.
About The Team:The Platform Engineering group builds the foundation behind Condé Nast’s digital products. Our systems support content planning, creation, delivery, and experimentation across brands and markets. We care deeply about reliability, performance, and developer experience, and we work closely with product, design, and data partners across the US, Europe, and India.
What You’ll Do: Engineering & ArchitectureGuide architecture, design, and development of scalable backend services, APIs, and applications for rights and asset management
Participate in design and code reviews, setting a high bar for quality
Work with product and design partners to translate business requirements into reliable, maintainable systems
Help evolve our infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker
Drive thoughtful use of AI to address challenges in rights and asset management
Manage and support a team of 4 to 8 engineers
Help engineers grow their careers by coaching technical skills, identifying strengths and gaps, and providing clear feedback
Foster a culture of collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
Improve team processes to increase efficiency and time to market
Partner closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet real needs
10+ years of experience building and operating production systems
2+ years of people management experience, leading teams of 3 to 8 engineers
Strong understanding of cloud architecture, CI/CD, and containerized environments (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes)
Proficiency in at least one programming language, with strong backend experience
Experience designing and working with REST and GraphQL APIs
Solid database experience with systems such as MongoDB and Postgres
Comfortable leading projects across the full development lifecycle, from ideation to long-term ownership
Strong communicator who works well in cross-functional and distributed teams
Willingness to collaborate across time zones
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
Experience with JavaScript and related frameworks (Node.js, Express, Hapi, React)
Familiarity with front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Experience integrating with third-party and enterprise systems such as Airtable (including automations and scripting), Workday, and MuleSoft
Languages & Frameworks: JavaScript, Node.js, Python
Data: MongoDB, Postgres, OpenSearch, Redis, Kafka
Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions
APIs: REST, GraphQL, Apollo Federation, AWS AppSync
