Engineering Manager

What's the role?We are looking for a technically strong and collaborative Engineering Manager II to lead the team responsible for developing the HERE Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. This role is ideal for someone with excellent leadership and communication skills, who also brings recent hands-on experience in software development. While prior engineering management experience is a plus, it is not a strict requirement.  Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a team of engineers, including both internal staff and external collaborators (outsourcing vendor).
• Drive technical excellence and ensure delivery of scalable, high-performance server components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product and infrastructure groups.
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to codebase as needed.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and represent the team in technical forums.

Who are you?Requires Qualifications:

• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
• Recent hands-on experience in software development (e.g. C++, Python, JavaScript).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and server-side architecture.
• Experience working in agile development environments.

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to AI/ML technologies and their integration into production systems.
• Prior experience in engineering management or technical leadership.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or Agentic AI concepts.
