About the Role
As an Engineering Manager and Japan customer interface, you will coordinate and support in Delivery Management of Harman Engineering Services to various JOEM. Responsibilities also include support for daily delivery management (Enable Project status tracking, Weekly monthly and QBR discussions internally and with customer), customer relationship building, business farming. This position should ensure, that the JOEM processes and Lessons Learned will be introduced and established in the JOEM programs handled.
Your Team
While there are no immediate direct reports at Onsite, however the expectations from the role would be to build direct reporting onsite/nearshore team to enable close interactions with customer.
What You Will Do
- Lead Engineering Projects - Manage and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Team Management – Build and Supervise a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Technical Oversight - Ensure the application of technical due process, manage technical risks, and implement abatement management processes.
- Project Planning and Scheduling - Develop, plan, and schedule engineering activities, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery execution.
- Resource Management - Allocate and manage resources effectively to meet project goals and objectives.
- Innovation and Improvement - Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes and outcomes.
- Stakeholder Communication - Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- Budget Management - Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
- Compliance and Safety- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
What You Need
- Must have 12+ years of Software relevant fields, especially in Automotive and Telematics, be familiar with either of Connectivity, Cloud, ADAS, Android, Linux.
- Must have Fluent Japanese and English-speaking skills with Prior experience on direct customer handling in Japan preferably in Automotive service domain.
- Good understanding on business development for Automotive OEMs, customer relationship building, proactive driving and coordinating with customers to fetch new opportunities.
- Guide implementation teams during SW development and conduct occasional code reviews
- Innovation Mindset - Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Good to Have
- Hands on experience on root cause analysis of tricky defects, support in Design review and guidance of selected features that can be distributed over several processes, VMs or even ECUs.
- Regulatory Knowledge - Familiarity with Automotive industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
