Key responsibilities ✨
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team : You’ll manage 2–3 cross-functional squads (8 to 15 engineers), creating the conditions for them to thrive: clear direction, strong rituals, and a collaborative culture. You foster alignment through regular team moments stand-ups, retros, and workshops and care deeply about team morale and engagement.
- Co-build product and technical strategy : You’ll help craft the vision and strategy for the Payment & Cash Advance domain, ensuring your teams are fully aligned on goals and the path to get there. You’ll translate high-level objectives into actionable plans, and keep everyone focused on what matters most: delivering value to users.
- Raise the bar on delivery and engineering excellence : You’ll set and track the right KPIs to measure impact, velocity, and quality and ensure that delivery is predictable and transparent. As part of Malt’s Engineering Manager Guild, you’ll also help scale what works across the org by contributing to shared rituals, tooling, and process improvements.
- Own our payments and financing ecosystem : You’ll be the primary tech point of contact for our external financial partners, from PSPs to cash advance providers. You’ll ensure smooth integration, operational reliability, and long-term scalability in this core part of Malt’s product.
About you 🧑🚀
- You’re comfortable navigating fast-paced, evolving environments. Whether it’s managing technical migrations, shifting team structures, or aligning business and tech priorities.
- You’ve mastered agile methodologies, and you know how to build high-performing product teams. You’ve worked in a scale-up or hyper-growth environment, and you understand how to balance speed, scalability, and quality.
- A significant experience as a senior individual contributor as backend/fullstack (ideally in java/Kotlin) You enjoy being part of code review, MR, architecture discussion and technical quality.
- You have an expertise in payment systems at scale. You understand the constraints and opportunities that come with building for this domain.
- You’re someone who doesn’t wait for instructions, you act. You identify problems, propose solutions, and rally the right people to move forward.
- Fluent in written and spoken English (French is a plus)
- You’re able to explain complex technical or strategic topics to a range of audiences. You know that communication is what makes good teams great.
- You keep an eye on emerging tech, especially around AI. You don’t need to be an expert, but you’re eager to explore how it can help your team deliver more value, faster.
