Our Engineering team creates innovative product experiences that power personalized marketing at massive scale. We develop cutting-edge applications and systems that process 100s of billions of messages and events per year, enabling marketers to connect effectively with hundreds of millions of consumers. As an Engineering Manager in the Expand Core Channels pillar, you will lead a team of engineers focused on creating a cohesive and optimized messaging experience for our customers. Your team will drive core investments in SMS, MMS, and Email while exploring and implementing solutions in emerging channels like RBM and Push. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure we deliver innovative and high-performing products across all channels where subscribers engage. You'll work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to scale and enhance our messaging capabilities, shaping the future of subscriber communication.
What You'll Accomplish
- Lead a team to build new cutting-edge AI-driven products in our New York office
- Empathize with the end-user, and partner with our product and design teams to build world-class products
- Understand the technology in your domain, and dive deep to drive foundational improvements
- Balance and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely and predictable delivery while maintaining a high standard of quality
- Partner with teams such as generative AI, ML, data platform, and others to build a strong underlying product platform
- Lead change management and adoption of new technologies across teams within Attentive
Your Expertise
- You have a significant history of building great user-facing software in a fast-paced environment
- You have strong technical experience, and are able to understand the full stack of software development from top to bottom
- Experience managing and coaching 3+ direct reports for growth and success in a fast paced environment
- You have a strong commitment to software quality, with a history of building reliable, high-uptime systems that meet and exceed performance expectations.
- You excel at translating business needs into well-defined projects, taking a hands-on approach to solution design, implementation, and execution.
- You thrive in a collaborative environment, working effectively with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and ensure cohesive execution.
- You have an inherent curiosity and analytic follow-through; you can’t help but ask “why?” and love using data and logic to explore potential solutions
What We Use
- Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
- Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and HelmOur backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
- Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
- Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,400 - $285,000 annually + equity + benefits
- Equity is a substantial part of the total compensation package
