The NightOwl team at ResMed seeks to offer a range of miniaturised diagnostic devices that allow a patient to be tested and diagnosed from the comfort of their homes. The devices along with our SaaS offering, allow us to explore many channels to therapy that were previously impossible. A key component of this connected ecosystem is the mobile team, which forms the first point of entry into the cloud ecosystem.

As an Engineering Manager in mobile and cloud, you will be part of a highly dynamic and innovative development team working on the latest technologies in the exciting, fast-growing Digital Health space. We’re a team of thinkers and innovators who constantly challenge ourselves to do everything better than the day before so that people around the world can breathe easier.

 

You will lead a full-stack team of mobile (iOS and Android) and cloud engineers and be responsible for delivering the best-in-class patient product experience. We are seeking a scale-focused new manager who will lead and deliver technology solutions with customer obsession in mind. They will bring clarity to their team, generate energy, and execute and deliver success. They are decisive, empathetic, willing to take measured risks and obsessed with delivering value on time to market.
Let’s talk about responsibilities:

  • A hands-on role coding when possible while managing & coaching a team of 5-7 engineers.
  • Learn each workflow’s system architecture of key integrations, configurations, and upstream/downstream impacts.
  • Own your team’s delivery and outcome and are fully empowered to deliver.
  • Take pride in your team’s solutions and in hitting delivery targets.
  • Analyse requirements and collaborate with architects, product managers, and engineers to produce thoughtful software designs with considerable scope and high complexity.
  • Responsible for guarding, promoting, and establishing best practices within the team.
  • Assist with project estimation, planning, and progress.
  • They can communicate clearly and promptly when their work hits roadblocks or risks that must be managed.
  • May be part of an on-call support rotation.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.


Let’s talk about qualifications and experience:

  • You take ownership of issues, work to find solutions, and collaborate well with team members and cross-functional groups.
  • Interface with other project stakeholders to ensure the system objectives are balanced with overall project objectives.
  • Provide product design leadership for the project team, including ongoing design and implementation review.
  • Cloud or mobile development experience:
    • Cloud:
      • Experience designing and building solutions with AWS serverless, managed services, Python and one of Terraform or CloudFormation.
      • Experience with various message-brokering architectures (pub/sub-queues, request/response) and data streaming.
      • Experience working with NoSQL and relational databases.
      • Experience building scalable, available, and low-latency systems.
      • Experience development and delivery experience with at a large scale.
      • Node.js solutions.
      • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
    • Mobile:
      • Experience designing and building Android or iOS apps in Swift or Kotlin.
      • Experience with the use of Continuous Integration and automated testing frameworks.
      • A portfolio of apps in the AppStore/Google Play.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Experience leading a software development team through multiple product/platform releases.
  • Experience making significant individual contributions as a Senior.
  • Engineer to real-world software development.
