Manages and supports the engineering function and ensures the department conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented. Analyzes production methods to ensure time and cost goals are reached. Provides technical guidance on most complex projects. Establishes and enforces procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability and safety in product designs and applications. Evaluates and develops improved techniques for the control of product designs, quality, reliability and safety. Works with customers to ensure products conform to their requirements and meet the customers needs. Implements and maintains design control procedures, reporting on engineering performance and improvements. Communicates with other engineering functions including design, process, production and quality.
Join our team as an Engineering Department Leader! You'll support the Department and Steering Team, fostering team spirit in line with Magna Employee’s Charter and Bowling Green Metalforming goals. Manage all aspects of the engineering department, including new product design and maintenance. Oversee activities and personnel, acting as a liaison for policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, you'll use technical, human, and conceptual skills to lead the team toward divisional objectives.
What we are looking for:
High School diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of Engineering Management experience required.
Minimum of 10 years of automotive engineering experience required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment for processes related to GMAW welding, Stamping, or Automated Assembly required.
CAD experience is preferred.
Certification of completion of APQP, Product Lifecycle Management, Control Plan, F.M.E.A. training, and related experience required.
Preferred qualifications:
CAD experience is preferred; Catia, AutoCAD, Teamcenter
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, requirements, and business correspondence.
Strong technical skills in automotive engineering.
Excellent leadership and management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Project management & organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment with flexibility to reprioritize, as necessary.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
