Key responsibilities and duties:
Develop and maintain a competent Technical Support Engineering team.
Governance and Control of all Engines BU Engineering Process and Procedures, ensuring regular updates are propagated effectively.
Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department;
Assigns, coordinates and reviews the technical work of the department;
Coordinates and liaises with various departments to resolve any difficult or continuing problems and ensures operational standards and goals are achieved;
Leads and participates in the resolution of problems and the reinforcement of continuous improvement;
Enables a team of Tech support Engineers to prepare detailed work instructions for repair of gas turbine engines to ensure compliance with approved maintenance data and customer requirements;
Accountable for the control, measures and improvements of the Non-Conformance Investigation Process within the Engines Business Unit
Ensures the Tech Support Engineering team provides interpretation and clarification of overhaul data; produces material review board, temporary overhaul data requirement, unit build standards, and engineering bill of materials documentation to support operational repair and overhaul processes;
Ensures the Tech support Engineering team review airworthiness directives, service bulletins and manual changes to incorporate amendments into production;
May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department;
Leads repair and improvement schemes together with feasibility studies;
Conducts analysis to ensure the site engine shop operations continue to operate in a cost-effective manner as technological, legal, regulatory, policy and product changes are implemented;
Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports;
Ensures the Technical Library staff are competent and up-to-date on publications revisions sent out for verification and validation to the Technical Support Engineers, EAB Engineers and Component Repair Engineers
Ensures regular interval work instruction reviews.
Carries out special projects as assigned;
Actively participates as a member of the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes;
