Working pattern: On-site 5 days per week.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead all engineering activity across the site, ensuring equipment and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You'll inspire and develop a team of Lead Engineers and Multi-Skilled Engineers, creating a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Combining strategic leadership with operational oversight, you will embed strong engineering standards, statutory compliance, and safe systems of work, while driving asset reliability, reducing downtime, and optimising site performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in developing engineering capability and delivering sustainable business results.
- Lead and develop the engineering team to deliver safe, reliable and high-performing operations.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, legal requirements and safe systems of work, including Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Permit to Work processes.
- Drive rapid resolution of equipment breakdowns, effective maintenance planning and accurate use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Lead continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability, asset performance and engineering processes.
- Manage capital projects and new equipment commissioning, ensuring safe implementation and alignment with long-term asset care standards.
- Monitor and improve key performance measures, including asset uptime, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), maintenance compliance, cost efficiency and factory performance.
- Build strong partnerships across Production, Site Services, Quality, Environment, Health and Safety and Central Engineering teams to achieve business objectives.
- Undertake additional responsibilities appropriate to the role, skills and experience, as required to support the business.
Key Know-How
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and asset care in production environments.
- Understanding of equipment reliability, failure modes, and maintenance strategies.
- Experience applying engineering best practice, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and condition monitoring.
- Knowledge of engineering compliance, statutory regulations, and safe systems of work.
Business Expertise
- Understanding of manufacturing operations and engineering performance measures, including safety, quality, cost, service, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Ability to convert operational priorities into effective engineering plans and actions.
- Experience supporting budget management, cost control, and resource planning.
Leadership & Professional Experience
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams, including apprentices.
- Ability to build capability, engagement, and a culture of high performance.
- Skilled in decision-making, problem-solving, and continuous improvement within operational environments.

Skills Required
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing environment
- On-site working pattern (5 days per week)
- Eligible to work without sponsorship / right to work in country (no visa sponsorship available)
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing engineering, maintenance delivery, and asset care
- Working knowledge of engineering best practice and maintenance methodologies (including Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, condition monitoring techniques)
- Experience with CMMS and ensuring high-quality maintenance data (job logging, scheduling, work closure)
- Awareness and application of statutory engineering and safety standards (PUWER, PSSR, LOLER, LEV, electrical safety, Permit to Work)
- Experience guiding capital project delivery and equipment commissioning, including Early Equipment Management
- Experience monitoring and reporting engineering KPIs (asset uptime, breakdown performance, OEE, maintenance compliance)
- Experience contributing to budgeting, cost control, and resource planning for maintenance operations
- Experience managing shift-based or multi-disciplinary teams, including apprentices and lead engineers
