About DataHub

The Role

DataHub is building the enterprise context platform that makes AI agents reliable, accurate, and enterprise-ready. We are the open source standard for metadata and context management, with a community of thousands of engineers and deployments at some of the world's most data-intensive companies, including Apple, Netflix, JP Morgan Chase, Warner Bros. Games, and Optum. As we scale our business, we are looking for an Engineering Manager, Ingestion

Reporting to: VP of Engineering
Works closely with: Founders, Product, Engineering, and cross-functional leaders
Location: Remote, with team members across the US, Europe, and India

Role overview

Ingestion is DataHub's front door - the core platform that pulls metadata from 100+ external systems (BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, SageMaker, Tableau, and many more) into DataHub. These ecosystems evolve quickly, so we need a leader who can set clear technical direction amid ambiguity and keep the platform scalable, reliable, and easy to extend.

You’ll lead a globally distributed team of 10-11 engineers across India, Europe, and the US West Coast. You will own the strategy for our connector ecosystem. In addition to your team you will work closely with the open source community and third parties on connector development. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on technical complexity, scale, and cross-functional collaboration. Your work will directly determine how fast customers get value from DataHub. Success in this role requires a track record of managing across geographies, building high‑performing teams, and leading complex integration and pipeline work.

What you’ll own

  • Platform Architecture: Lead the evolution of our ingestion framework to handle high-throughput ingestion of structured and unstructured metadata at enterprise scale. Evolve the Remote Executor platform that lets ingestion run securely in customer environments..
  • AI-driven time-to-Value: Spearhead the development of intelligent, agent-based solutions. Onboarding agents that speed up new customer ramp, and troubleshooting agents that enable self-service resolution of integration failures.
  • Cross team Partnership: Work with Product to set the strategy, and with Customer Support, Customer Success and Sales to resolve customer issues and improve stability.
  • Platform health: Drive down technical debt and invest in developer productivity and long-term reliability.

What success looks like

  • Expanded Reach: A broader, deeper connector ecosystem, built through internal engineering plus community and third-party contributions.
  • Reliability: Fewer failures and faster resolution through proactive investment in platform stability.
  • Execution velocity: Strong delivery without sacrificing team health or morale.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in data infrastructure, platform, ingestion, or integration-heavy environments.
  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and scalable backend architecture.
  • Experience managing globally distributed teams across time zones.
  • Ability to work closely with founders, product, and cross-functional leaders.
  • Comfort balancing strategy, execution, customer issues, and team development.
  • Strong judgment, communication, and ownership.

Bonus if you have

  • Experience with connectors, integrations, ETL, or metadata systems.
  • Background building or scaling developer platforms, SDKs, or remote execution infrastructure.
  • Experience at a fast-growing startup or high-scale data platform company.
  • Familiarity with Python-based ingestion systems and cloud-native execution.

Why this role matters

Without Ingestion, DataHub's catalog doesn't stay complete, current, or useful. This team is what makes the platform's core promise real. DataHub is at an inflection point in a category that's becoming central to how enterprises build and govern AI, and this role has a rare chance to help shape how that category is understood by the market.

Why Now

Every enterprise is scrambling to make their data AI-ready. They're discovering that traditional catalogs can't provide the context AI agents need. DataHub is positioned to own this massive shift—but only with engineering leadership that truly understands both the technical and cultural transformation required.

If you want to define how engineering teams build in the AI era while shipping the infrastructure that makes agentic workflows possible, let's talk.
