We are hiring an Engineering Manager for our Treasury team to lead Lithic's next phase of growth.
Treasury is Lithic's financial services platform — if a dollar moves through Lithic, it touches Treasury. The team owns all money movement (ACH, wires, book transfers, card settlement), the double-entry ledger, reconciliation across payment networks and banking partners, and the financial controls that ensure correctness across all funds flows. The systems we maintain have high standards of reliability and correctness, because they underpin every dollar on the platform. The team primarily uses Python and AWS.
What You'll Do:- Ensure high reliability and correctness for Treasury's core systems — the ledger, payment origination, card settlement, reconciliation, and financial controls
- Lead delivery of new features and capabilities across money movement, accounting, and reporting surfaces
- Raise the bar on operational excellence: observability, incident response, on-call readiness, and pragmatic reliability improvements
- Own initiatives from planning to launch, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned along the way
- Partner closely with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements early and keep engineering time focused on the highest-impact work
- Lead efforts to improve systems, processes, and documentation so new team members can ramp quickly
- Participate in and help evolve the team's on-call rotation
- Experience managing and growing engineers, including coaching, feedback, and hiring
- Strong technical judgment and system design skills, especially for high-reliability systems with strict correctness requirements
- Comfort staying close to the work — this is a player-coach role where the manager can unblock, review designs, and occasionally contribute hands-on when needed
- Experience shipping and operating production services, with a bias toward measurable reliability and pragmatic iteration
- Experience with or interest in learning financial infrastructure — payment rails, ledger systems, reconciliation, or similar domains
- Experience with Python and AWS (or closely related stacks), and an ability to ramp quickly where the stack is unfamiliar
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and an ability to keep teams aligned under time pressure
- Growth mindset and continuous desire to learn and improve
- An interest in fintech and payments is preferred
The annual US salary range for this role is $169,000 - $265,000 plus equity. This salary range is inclusive of several career levels at Lithic and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
This is a remote position. However, candidates must be located in the United States, Canada, Netherlands, Poland, or Czech Republic. We do not offer visa sponsorship or assistance.

What We Do
Before Lithic, we started Privacy.com in 2014 to build the safest and easiest way for consumers to pay online. We worked with a legacy issuer processor and it took us over a year to launch our card program. Even after we were up and running, scaling and ongoing maintenance were a pain—batch processing delays, scheduled downtime windows, and black-box systems we couldn't debug. From this experience, we learned firsthand that the financial services supply chain is broken—in the United States, the industry is still dominated by 30-year-old companies that run on mainframes. So we built Lithic, the issuing and processing infrastructure we always wanted, with developer-friendly, modern, well-documented APIs, insanely fast speed-to-market, and flawless reconciliation—purpose built to give card issuers extremely high levels of observability, control, and flexibility over their card programs. We own the entire technical stack: direct connections to Visa, Mastercard, and Amex, our own authorization engine delivering sub-100ms responses, an immutable ledger system, and real-time webhooks for every transaction event. Today, we power card programs for 100+ innovative companies including Mercury and Privacy.com—maintaining 99.99+% uptime without maintenance windows while processing billions in payment volume. And we're just getting started. Lithic currently has 150+ employees in 26 states and 6 countries, with an HQ in NYC, backed by Bessemer, Index, and Stripes.
