[What you will be working on]

The Singpass team builds Singapore’s digital identity system. This includes various personal authentication protocols, data sharing tools, and corporate identity systems through Corppass. The team’s mission is to provide a world-class, trusted and secure national digital identity for seamless everyday experiences.

As an Engineering Manager at GovTech, you will:

Aim: Set Direction

  • Collaborate with Product and UX partners to shape the squad’s technical and delivery goals
  • Balance new feature delivery with technical sustainability, maintainability, and risk mitigation
  • Bring strong technical judgment — helping engineers navigate design and architecture trade-offs in alignment with long-term goals
  • Use metrics (e.g., delivery velocity, incident trends, performance) to guide decisions and improve flow

Assemble: Build and Support the Team

  • Build a high-performing, lean team with the right mix of skills, experience, and growth potential
  • Coach and develop your engineers through 1:1s, feedback, and career growth planning
  • Build a high-trust, inclusive team culture where feedback is valued and learning is continuous
  • Drive performance management with fairness, transparency, and
    context

Achieve: Deliver Outcomes Sustainably

  • Ensure the team ships high-quality software predictably, and improves over time
  • Support technical decision-making and architecture reviews, with support from Staff+ ICs
  • Monitor delivery health, reliability, and tech debt — and address root causes, not just symptoms
  • Improve Developer Experience (DevX) and reduce friction through better tools, processes, or team rituals

Skills Required

  • Strong experience in software engineering and architecture
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Experience in mentoring and growing engineers from junior to senior roles
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions for software delivery improvements
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and improving developer experience
