The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is currently looking for an Engineering Manager-PT Tendering in Transformer Business to join their team in Global Engineering Center, Vadodara, India. The business’s comprehensive portfolio includes power transformers, traction transformers, insulation and components, digital sensors, and transformer services. How you’ll make an impact:

Lead and develop the Power Transformer Tender Engineering team to deliver high-quality, competitive, and technically compliant tender solutions that support business growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Drive resource planning, technical governance, standardization, and digital transformation while ensuring timely tender execution across global markets.

Main Accountabilities are:

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Tender Engineering team.
  • Set team objectives, KPIs, and competency development plans.
  • Drive talent acquisition, employee engagement, succession planning, and capability building.

Tender Execution

  • Oversee preparation and review of technical tenders for Power Transformer projects.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, technical standards, and business requirements.
  • Manage technical risks, deviations, and solution optimization during the tendering process.
  • Support complex and strategic bids requiring advanced engineering expertise.

Resource & Performance Management

  • Plan and allocate resources to meet tender volume and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor workload, productivity, and utilization across the team.
  • Ensure on-time and high-quality tender submissions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Sales, Factories, Product Management, SCM, and Global Engineering teams.
  • Act as the key technical interface during customer discussions and clarifications.
  • Support bid strategy and competitive positioning initiatives.

Continuous Improvement & Digitalization

  • Drive process standardization, automation, and engineering efficiency improvements.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, best practices, and digital engineering tools.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making through KPI monitoring and reporting.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • >12 years of experience in Design as an engineering manager.
  • In depth Knowledge of Power Transformer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a process-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and driven ownership.
  • Open to change, feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in project management will be additional advantage.
