Job Description

What if your leadership could shape large-scale, business-critical digital products across a global organization? At H&M Tech, the Engineering Manager plays a critical leadership role, accountable for technical execution, delivery quality, and operational excellence.

The Product domain provides capabilities to design, create, source, and produce customer‑relevant assortments. It covers the full product lifecycle from product design, sourcing, purchasing, to production execution, and is organized into four focus areas that each own a distinct part of this lifecycle. The Product team will support the Production Office with technology and data use cases that help colleagues explore opportunities, improve decision-making, automate manual work, and create measurable value in production processes.

We are currently recruiting for 3 Engineering Manager positions within our Product domain. These opportunities span the Product & Purchase and Product Sourcing areas, where you will lead one of our engineering teams supporting Sourcing Partnership Flow, Purchase Flow, or Labels & Tags

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic & Delivery Leadership

  • Own end-to-end technical delivery for one or more large-scale and complex products or services.
  • In service contexts, own both roadmap and delivery accountability; in product contexts, partner with Product Managers to shape execution.
  • Translate business and product goals into clear technical direction, execution plans, and measurable outcomes across technology and data-enabled products.
  • Partner with Production Office stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and deliver technology and data use cases that solve real operational needs and improve ways of working.
  • Work in close dual leadership with the Product Manager to balance product priorities, technical feasibility, delivery capacity, and long-term scalability.
  • Secure and allocate engineering capacity across multiple teams aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Establish scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms, pipelines, and data products that support analytics, experimentation, and operational use cases.
  • Lead through senior engineers while retaining overall accountability for engineering quality, delivery timelines, consistent standards, and operational excellence.

Operational Excellence

  • Shape and enforce engineering quality, simplification, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Define and monitor KPIs to drive operational performance and business outcomes.
  • Ensure stable, resilient, compliant, and secure operations, including effective incident handling and adherence to architectural standards.
  • Lead proactive management of risks, dependencies, and technical debt.
  • Embed responsible technology practices into delivery, including privacy, security, bias awareness, monitoring, and clear operational ownership.
  • Oversee vendor and managed service delivery, ensuring performance, compliance, contractual alignment, and cost efficiency.

Financial Accountability

  • Own and manage tech costs (budget, forecast, actuals) across large-scale products or services.
  • Ensure strong financial discipline and cost efficiency aligned with TCO objectives.
  • Contribute to investment planning and prioritization aligned with business goals.

People & Culture

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop senior engineers, leaders, and teams while setting best practices for engineering excellence.
  • Build high-performing, inclusive, and psychologically safe environments in the team.
  • Ensure teams have the right competencies, structure, and support to succeed.
  • Promote sustainable ways of working and support team well-being.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a senior technical leader influencing enterprise-level decisions and priorities.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and business stakeholders to align direction.

Ensure transparency with clear communication of progress, risks, and dependencies.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will lead an engineering team within one of our Product Tech areas—Product & Purchase or Product Sourcing—supporting one of the strategic product teams: Sourcing Partnership Flow, Purchase Flow, or Labels & Tags. You will lead a Product team consisting of various Engineers and operate at the intersection of engineering, data, product, architecture, and business. The team will work closely with the Production Office to understand concrete use cases, shape scalable data and technology solutions, and turn business needs into reliable products that support production teams in their daily work.

You will work in dual leadership with the Product Manager, where you bring engineering leadership, delivery accountability, technical direction, and operational excellence while the Product Manager drives product vision, prioritization, and value realization. Together, you will align priorities, shape the roadmap, and ensure data and digital capabilities are designed, built, governed, and scaled across the Product in close collaboration with architects, specialists, security, analytics, and senior stakeholders.
