Engineering Manager, Network

The Role

MarketAxess is seeking a Network Engineering Manager to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's global network infrastructure.  The Network Engineering Manager will provide exceptional vision and leadership while managing a team of engineers to implement new solutions, improve existing services, and secure/prevent/respond to events that disrupt business and/or technical operations. This role reports into the Global Head of Infrastructure. 

How You'll Help Take Us There

• Lead the design and implementation of network infrastructure projects, including upgrades, expansions, and migrations. 
• Manage network capacity planning and performance monitoring to ensure optimal network performance.
• Develop, document, and implement network engineering standards and best practices across all regions.
• Develop and maintain network security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and systems.
• Collaborate with other IT teams, business units, and external vendors to ensure alignment of network initiatives with business goals.
• Manage hardware and software lifecycle for network devices.
• Provide on call escalation support and provide off-hours support for key weekend implementations.  
• Be a thought leader and constantly generate new ideas on ways to improve the current environment.
• Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of internal and third-party networks and various systems across the enterprise.
• Manage vendor partners and review vendor contracts, scope of work documents, technical specifications, service level agreements, etc. for technology service providers; negotiate renewals and new contracts.
• Enable cost-effective and innovative shared technology solutions.
• Establish and maintain appropriate performance measures; drive continuous proactive improvement.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to network engineering team members, including mentoring and professional development opportunities.
• Enable solutions that improve the security posture of the overall infrastructure through segmentation and isolation zones.
• Ensure IT control standards are designed, implemented and tested.
• Responsible for audit and compliance reporting and evidence collection. 
• Develop and manage the network engineering budget, including forecasting, and tracking expenses.
• Stay current on new technologies and Information Security; provide recommendations on existing and emerging technologies. 

What We’re Looking for  

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. 
• 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
• Experience with a broad spectrum of technologies including advanced networking concepts, Microsoft stack, backup maintenance, custom application support, analytics, system integration, disaster recovery and data security systems. 
• Experience managing global network infrastructure in a complex, multi-site environment. 
• Experience leading a team where customer experience was a priority.  
• Experience researching and troubleshooting IT issues and products and present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language is required.  
• Experience in network planning, enterprise network architecture, capacity planning, Network evolution, strategic planning, or deployment. 
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills  
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.  
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously. 
• Self-motivated and quick to respond to business challenges  
• Resilient, optimistic and a change agent – doesn’t accept the status quo  
• Industry certifications, such as CCIE, CCNP, or CISSP, are a plus.

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $200,000 USD to $260,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
