We are looking for an Engineering Manager, Mobile Platform (full-time) to join our Platform team in Berlin.
As Engineering Manager for the Mobile Platform team, you will be pivotal in shaping the technical foundation that powers Babbel’s mobile experiences. This team is at the core of ensuring that Babbel's iOS and Android applications are reliable, scalable, and equipped with the tools and frameworks that enable product teams to deliver best-in-class learning experiences.
You will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of trust, inclusivity, and innovation. This is a hands-off management role, but your deep technical understanding of mobile platforms will allow you to provide guidance, challenge assumptions, and ensure sound technical decisions are made. You will act as a connector, facilitating collaboration between product teams and platform engineering to ensure the mobile platform evolves in line with business needs and technological advances.
Success in this role means creating a platform that empowers Babbel’s mobile product teams to move faster, with greater confidence, and with a focus on delivering value to millions of learners worldwide.
You will:

- Drive the development and maintenance of a scalable, reliable, and secure mobile platform infrastructure
- Ensure high-quality engineering practices through mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and process improvements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions
- Promote a culture of innovation by empowering your team to experiment and learn from one another while staying informed about industry trends to keep Babbel at the forefront of the mobile ecosystem
You have:
- 5+ years of experience in mobile application development, with at least 1/2 years in a leadership or management role. Proven track record of managing mobile teams and delivering high-impact mobile applications at scale
- Hands-on Mobile Engineering Expertise with a strong background in mobile engineering & deep expertise in building iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Java/Kotlin) applications. Experience with cross-platform frameworks (e.g., Flutter, React Native) is a plus
- Experience operating performant mobile apps in production environments, including app store management and instrumentation
- Experience building scalable mobile architectures and working with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines
- An inclusive leadership approach that emphasizes collaboration, open communication, and a commitment to both personal and professional development
- Experience advocating for best practices in testing and driving automation initiatives to ensure high-quality, efficient processes
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
